Timeform View

A chance is taken on LAKEWOOD ROSE, who has improved with each run over hurdles and should be firmly in the mix with a little more progress. Dangers abound, though, with Hidalgo des Mottes, Fairlander and Digby all capable of playing a part if at their best.

Timeform Comments

Icare Desbois (FR)
Has shown little in 4 starts in this sphere for current yard. Blinkers/tongue discarded now but he can only be watched until showing signs of a revival.
Act Of God
Winner over fences at Wexford in 2022/23 but well held on his only completed start over hurdles the following season. Fit from points and a recent spin on the Flat, he has been given a chance by the handicapper but is difficult to recommend until proving how much ability he retains.
Cut The Rope (FR)
Maiden hurdler who posted his best effort last season when fifth of 23 in handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (20.7f, good). Ran poorly when last seen, though, and has a tendency to make mistakes over hurdles.
Fortunate Lighting (IRE)
Won handicap hurdle at Sligo in 2025/26 but more miss than hit since and offered little on chasing debut last month.
Lord Ffrench (IRE)
Won a steadily-run maiden in hurdle at Sligo (21f) in 2025/26 but has struggled since, including on return.
Fenway Park (IRE)
Resumed winning ways after an unsuccessful stint chasing in 8-runner claiming hurdle at Clonmel in February and then backed that up when runner-up in a similar race at Naas a week later. Returns to handicap company on debut for a new yard.
Digby (IRE)
Took a step back in the right direction when 12½ lengths fifth of 16 to Billy Lee Swagger at Ballinrobe 13 days ago, faring best of those ridden prominently. Well treated if able to build on that, with yard back among the winners of late.
That's About Right (IRE)
Proved more miss than hit over fences last season and reverts to hurdling with a bit to prove after an especially poor effort when last seen in April.
Costanuci (IRE)
Without a win since 2023/24 and finished last season badly out of sorts. Hard to fancy on return from 6-month break.
Qaasid (IRE)
Confirmed return to form when awarded 15-runner handicap hurdle at Limerick last, chasing home Marion Avenue but justifiably promoted after suffering major interference 2 out. A 6 lb rise for that performance makes life tougher, though, and improvement is required.
Adaliz (GER)
Won handicaps at Clonmel and Tipperary in early-2025/26 but not seen since poor effort at Roscommon last-August. Yard is in good form, though, so any support should be noted on this return.
Mary's Pride (IRE)
Posted one of her better efforts when 1½ lengths second of 15 to Can Happen at Ballinrobe last time, responding well to first-time cheekpieces. Remains unproven beyond 17f, though, so step up in trip is a concern.
Cock And Bull (IRE)
Fairly useful but inconsistent winner on the Flat who looked to have been brought along with handicaps in mind over hurdles but then ran no sort of race at Clonmel last time. Remains capable of better but this may be too competitive.
Fairlander (IRE)
Shaped well when third on handicap debut at Downpatrick in March, finishing hot on the heels of the second, Accustomed. Didn't back that up at this course following month, though, and needs to bounce back.
Lakewood Rose (IRE)
Continued a theme of gradual progression in this sphere when 3¼ lengths fourth of 14 to Morell River in mares handicap at Wexford 22 days ago. Likely to be in the mix.
Goin'
Fair Flat winner. Thrice-raced maiden over hurdles, though little encouragement to be gleaned from last 2 starts. Type to do better now tackling a handicap in this sphere.
Hidalgo Des Mottes (FR)
Remains a maiden despite plenty of creditable placed efforts. Possibly needed the run when 22 lengths fifth of 15 to Chemdawg at Kilbeggan in April but virtually refused to race back on the Flat last time. Should be thereabouts on the pick of his form. Engaged 19.55 Clonmel Friday.
