Timeform View

Recent Flat winner SEQUOIASPIRIT returns to hurdles on a handy mark and may capitalise. Sir Allen has been freshened up for this and looks interesting on his return to hurdling, while Avalo won a strong race at Punchestown last time but may find softening conditions against him.

Timeform Comments

Stede Bonnet (IRE)
Dual bumper/hurdle winner who isn't best judged on his run in the Martin Pipe at the Cheltenham Festival last time, though his mark still looks on the stiff side on first start in an Irish handicap.
Billy Lee Swagger (IRE)
Travelled strongly in a well-run race when recording a career-best success at Ballinrobe (2¾m, good) last time, and while different conditions are unlikely to inconvenience, the pace scenario looks less favourable on this occasion.
Dreal Deal (IRE)
Bounced straight back to form on return to veterans company at Ballinrobe on his latest start, coming from off the pace to finish second of 12 in a well-run handicap chase, and can still be competitive off a 3 lb lower hurdle mark.
Lisnagar Fortune (IRE)
Inconsistent for Willie Mullins last year and having gone with little encouragement on reappearance/stable debut in the Red Mills at Gowran in mid-February, he is at least back at a more realistic level for his handicap bow.
Sir Allen
Fairly useful handicap form when last seen over hurdles in 2024, he enhanced his good record fresh when defying a 15-month absence on Flat return at Navan in late-March, and looks interesting now reverted to hurdling.
Avalo (IRE)
Strong-travelling sort who benefitted from the return to less testing conditions when successful in a fiercely competitive event at Punchestown (2m) on return (form working out well), resuming progress in no uncertain terms, but the forecast rain is unlikely to help his chances.
Sequoiaspirit (IRE)
Remains with just a solitary win to his name in this sphere but he was knocking on the door in handicaps last summer, and having run up to his best when third on the Flat at Killarney last time, he's fancied to double his hurdles tally with a good-value claimer taking over.
Rakki
Below form both starts since a promising handicap debut second at Punchestown last December, though may have been short of peak fitness on return at Punchestown in late-April, and cannot be discounted if back on song in a first-time tongue strap.
Ollie La Ba Ba (IRE)
Dual hurdles winner wasn't disgraced when finishing mid-field in a ladies' handicap hurdle at Limerick in December but has tended to need his reappearance run in the past.
Eye Of A Tiger (IRE)
Kilbeggan maiden hurdle winner never looked like justifying strong support at Ballinrobe (2m) last time, though she is unexposed over this sort of distance.
Simple Things (IRE)
Lightly-raced 4-y-o who has finished runner-up in mares handicap hurdles on her previous 2 starts, latterly in a solid event for the grade at Wexford on first try over this trip, and should at least hold her own now pitched into better company.
