WORKAHEAD was easily the best of these over hurdles and should prove a superior chaser on the basis on his Wexford debut success over fences. Wild Bill Hickok was third behind the selection last time and can chase him home, with Scalpnagoon likely best of the rest.

Timeform Comments

Workahead (IRE)
Smart over hurdles and he looked as if he might make an even better chaser when comfortably winning a 5-runner novice chase at Wexford (2m, good to soft) on debut over fences 23 days ago. Very hard to beat.
Bannow Blaze (IRE)
Winner over hurdles in at Wexford in October and ran at least as well when second at Cork next time. Not seen to best effect from a long way back when last seen at Leopardstown (2m) over Christmas and he's still the type to take to chasing despite unseating early on debut in this sphere.
Haveigotnewsforyou (IRE)
Fairly useful form when landing 11-runner novice hurdle at Kilbeggan (19f) in spring 2024. Given a considerate return from 20 months off over fences at Gowran in January but let down by jumping when unseating at Leopardstown since. May be one for handicaps after this.
Positive Energy (IRE)
Went backwards following a winning hurdle debut at Navan last spring and made no impact sent chasing at Ballinrobe a fortnight ago.
Reiki Revolution (IRE)
Bumper winner who made it sixth time lucky over hurdles starting out for present yard at Punchestown in October. Well held when unseating late in a strong novice chase won by Workahead at Wexford on chase debut.
Scalpnagoon (IRE)
Fairly useful over hurdles and has translated that ability to chasing, placing on all 3 starts since his debut, most recently when second of 12 in novice chase at Ballinrobe (17f, good, 12/1) 14 days ago. Place claims again but unlikely to trouble the favourite.
Talk In The Park (IRE)
Ran respectably in first-time cheekpieces when fifth of 11 in handicap chase at Naas (2½m, heavy, 11/1) 134 days ago but returns from a break here and looks vulnerable to less-exposed rivals,
Wild Bill Hickok (IRE)
Didn't kick on as expected over hurdles but better signs on stable debut at Aintree in April and he built on that when making a successful Wexford chase debut in May. No match for Workahead there 3 weeks ago, though, and second is probably the best he can hope against that rival.
