Timeform View

AFFETTUOSO took a big step forward when second to a subsequent handicap winner at Wolverhampton when last seen in December and can progress further this year. He's just preferred to Glory Road, who should also have more improvement in his locker. Steel Raven is an interesting newcomer.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Glory Road traded at a low of 4.90 and Betfair SP of 5.30 when losing last time, a race in which it raced in mid-field: Affettuoso traded at a low of 1.44 and Betfair SP of 2.07 when losing last time, a race in which it raced prominently and travelled strongly early on.

Timeform Comments

Sodeto
No promise fitted with a hood in Haydock bumper on debut last month. Has a good Flat pedigree but is hard to be confident about after that. Tongue tie goes on.
Thistle Nil (IRE)
U S Navy Flag gelding. Dam, 6f winner, half-sister to useful 7.7f-1½m winner (stayed 1¾m) Caliburn out of useful 7f/1m winner Enchanted Evening. Green and always behind in 6f Ayr maiden on debut 5 weeks ago.
Vintage Marsala
From a family the yard have done well with but he was easy to back and offered little on debut at Redcar (1m) last summer.
Affettuoso
Much improved from debut having again been strong in the betting when second to Archers Bay (now rated 104) in 9.5f Wolverhampton novice in December. More to come this year.
Glory Road (GER)
€110,000 Too Darn Hot colt. Half-brother to several winners, including smart German winner up to 1m Geography. Has made a promising start, keeping on when third on return at Newbury (1¼m) 25 days ago. Should have even more to offer.
Lorton Valley
Certainly not without hope on paper but has very much looked a work in progress in finishing mid-field in pair of 1m all-weather novices.
Pepsea (IRE)
Showed plenty of ability when making odds-on winner pull out the stops at Thirsk (1m) on debut but failed to build on that at Hamilton (9f). Could be one for handicaps.
Sanny Doo
Hasn't shown any ability in 3 starts (trained by James Tate on debut).
Snake Hips
25,000 gns foal, Oasis Dream gelding. Half-brother to several winners, including smart 6f winner Staxton and unreliable 5f/6f winner Classic Pursuit. Dam 12.4f winner. Quite appealing on paper.
Steel Raven (IRE)
£52,000 yearling, €87,000 2-y-o, Supremacy gelding. Half-brother to 7f winner We've Got This. Dam unraced half-sister to smart winner up to 7f Fox Trotter. Sales price last year catches the eye and yard's newcomers have been shaping up well.
Sun Lord (FR)
Has shown a bit in novices at up to 11f and could do better when handicapping.
Turret (IRE)
€580,000 Kingman colt who is the second foal of an unraced half-sister to 3 Group 1 winners. 17/2, green and offered little on debut at Lingfield (1m, polytrack) last month.
Ceinture D'orion
€210,000 Sea The Stars filly who showed promise amidst obvious inexperience when fourth of 7 in novice at Wetherby on debut in April. Tailed off as if amiss at Haydock (again over (1¼m) next time, however.
