Timeform View

Cases can be made for a number of these but the most persuasive is for I STILL HAVE FAITH, who is still getting better despite being a 6-y-o and shaped much better than the bare result for a second start in a row at Newmarket last month. George Scott's Forty Years On was most progressive last year and is feared most provided she's ready to roll. Nostrum, Storm Free and Ata Rangi are just a handful of others worth considering, also.

Quickly developed into a useful performer at up to 1¾m last year. Tends to flit between weak and strong finishes though was very fresh on return when tailed off in listed race at Haydock (10.5f, good to soft) just under 3 weeks ago. Returns to 7f for the first time since her debut.
Nostrum
Smart for Sir Michael Stoute earlier in his career but struggled for David O'Meara in 2025. Shaped better than the result in the Victoria Cup on return and looks on the way back, second of 7 in handicap at Sandown (1m, good) a fortnight ago. In top hands to continue his revival.
Brian (IRE)
Showed more than on return when mid-field in a competitive course handicap at this track (6f) in April but didn't shape especially well when seventh of 9 at Newmarket (6f, good to firm). Handicapper drops him 3 lb but a losing run stretching back almost 2 years tempers enthusiasm.
Ata Rangi (IRE)
Successful first time back in 2025 and repeated the trick after 6 months off in 10-runner handicap at Haydock (7f, good) recently, aided by a good-value claimer and being held up in a strongly-run race. This a better race so more needed if he's to defy a career-high mark.
Forty Years On (IRE)
Mayson filly who proved most progressive on her debut season last year, bringing up the hat-trick at Ascot with a fair bit in hand on handicap debut in September. Only just denied the 4-timer at Southwell (7f) later that month and she remains of interest as a 4-y-o.
Spangled Mac (IRE)
Losing run stretches back to the beginning of last year but he posted good placed efforts over 6f in Bahrain in January. Run of good form halted on final start there in April and was again below form at Chester (7f, good to firm) just over 5 weeks ago, admittedly poorly positioned.
Morte Point
Won 3 of his final 4 starts last year (including over C&D) but little to shout about in a handful of starts this year, most recently in this grade at Goodwood (7f, good) just under 3 weeks ago. Hopes pinned on a recent breathing operation changing his fortunes.
Storm Free
Upped his game last term, scoring twice from 4 starts. Made an encouraging return when sixth of 18 at Newmarket in April but went backwards from that having ended up down the centre of the track at Ascot (7f, good to firm) last month. Interesting in first-time cheekpieces with Murphy booked.
I'm Workin On It
Has taken his form up a notch this year, gaining a third Kempton success of the campaign when making all last month. Ran another cracker there (7f) when neck second of 11 to Chalk Mountain just over 3 weeks ago and will be a danger to all if translating that back to turf.
I Still Have Faith
Remains a while without a win but still getting better despite being a 6-y-o and shaped much better than the bare result for a second start in a row when fourth of 11 at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) last month. Threatening to come good soon, he could be worth chancing.
Chalk Mountain
Resumed winning ways at Kempton in September and picked up where he left off 7 months earlier when winning 11-runner event there (7f) by neck from I'm Workin On It just over 3 weeks ago, hanging fire in front but just doing enough. By no means handicapped out of this from just 2 lb higher.
Warm Spell (IRE)
Placed 3 times in 2025 but not seen to best effect either start so far this year, blindfold removed late when tailed-off last of 10 at Haydock last month. Handicapper drops him 2 lb but fast approaching 3 years since his sole success over C&D.
Best Rate
Consistent sort but it's now 14 runs since his last win in 2024. Back on song when fourth of 11 at Newcastle (7f) 11 weeks ago and the headgear is left off for his return.
City Of Kings
Looked useful prospect when winning at Ascot on latter start at 2 yrs for Charlie Appleby and not seen to best effect in Newmarket conditions race following spring. Hard to know how much ability he retains, so best watched on handicap debut for new yard after more than 3 years off (has been gelded).
Obsidian Dream
Has not made it to the track all that much in the last few years and shaped as if needing the run after 4 months off when last of 5 in handicap at Bath (5.7f, good to firm) just over a fortnight ago. Returns to 7f and this should reveal more.
Tanmawwy (IRE)
A fair 7f winner at Epsom in 2024 but offered little after 19 months off at Salisbury (1m, good to soft) recently. Difficult to assess.
