Timeform View

PEARL EYE confirmed the promise of his Ayr run when successful with a bit up his sleeve at Hamilton last week and on that evidence, the follow up may well be forthcoming from just 2 lb higher. Unexposed 4-y-os Point of Contact and Grizedale have the scope to rate higher and head the opposition.

Timeform Comments

Point Of Contact (IRE)
Newbury maiden winner on last season's return and better form in defeat since, despite not always being seen to best effect, which was the case on last month's reappearance (having been gelded) over 1m here a month ago. Slight step up in trip can help his cause and he's not yet exposed.
Billyb (FR)
Big-field winner over 1m here last summer and signed off 2025 in the perfect fashion at Southwell. Just a creditable seventh with his reappearance behind him at Beverley 2 weeks ago and others look better treated.
Grizedale
Confirmed debut promise when landing the odds in 1m Kempton novice in August. Sound placed efforts next 2 starts and easy enough to excuse handicap debut at Newmarket when last seen in November. Gelded ahead of reappearance and this low-mileage 4-y-o is in very good hands.
Fantastic Fox
Losing run dates back to January 2024 but he's posted plenty of useful efforts in good-quality handicaps since. Lurks on a dangerous mark on return to action but his profile on the all-weather is slightly more persuasive.
Empire Of Light (IRE)
Picked up where he left off in 2025 when gamely winning at Haydock (10.5f) in April and better than ever when completing the hat-trick back at 1m at Thirsk 4 weeks ago. Up 3 lb but this is actually a lesser band of handicap so this enthusiastic sort needs considering.
Frankies Dream (IRE)
Won a competitive big-field 7f handicap here 12 months ago and hasn't taken long to hit top form again this season, typically racing freely but sticking to his task when third over 7.5f at Thirsk 2 weeks ago. Same mark here and he should get a good pace to aim at up in trip.
Freddie Steady Go
Bumper winner but caused a major upset on third Flat start when landing 7f novice at Carlisle (7f) 4 weeks ago, relishing the emphasis on stamina. No obvious reason to doubt the form and this trip will suit now handicapping, but mark does look a shade high.
Capital Guarantee (IRE)
Won 3 times last season and showed benefit of reappearance when just denied at Beverley in April, having been caught further back than ideal. Couple of heavy defeats have followed so others more persuasive back up in distance.
Break The Bank
All-weather winner in spring of 2024 for Andrew Balding but off since unseating rider at the start in August of that year. Has joined another good stable but easy to have reservations.
Kaleido
Won a 7f fast-ground maiden for the Gosdens last July. Might have needed his first outing for a new yard after 9 months off when 7 lengths sixth of 10 at Epsom in April but he couldn't even match that form at Ayr.
Cristo
Unable to add to a pair of all-weather wins last spring but pretty consistent despite his quirks, second of 12 at Salisbury in May. Was making headway when clipping heels and unseating rider at Goodwood last week, so needs treating as though still in form.
Hale End (IRE)
Ended a losing run at Southwell (1m) in December and suited by the sound gallop when making a winning return to turf at Wetherby (1m, good) in April. Backed that up with a pair of excellent runner-up efforts, narrowly failing to justify strong support at Ayr 3 weeks ago.
They All Know Me
String of placed efforts early in his career and just about better than ever when landing 10-runner handicap at Carlisle (7f) 4 weeks ago, suited by way race developed. This is a better race but this trip well worth exploring.
Financer
Three-time winner in 2024 who made the frame on several occasions last season, including when second over 1¼m at this venue. Needs things to fall right given run style and he could never land a serious blow at Ripon 2 weeks ago.
Pearl Eye
Ended last season below form but shaped very well first 2 starts back at Ayr under Lauren Young and cashed in on a handy mark with Paul Mulrennan taking over at Hamilton last week (9f). Had a bit in hand on that occasion and looks well weighted here.
Leadenhall
Dual 1m scorer in 2025. Shaped well on his return when fifth of 9 in handicap at Pontefract (1m) and ridden more prominently than usual when adding to his tally at Nottingham (8.5f) 2 weeks ago. All out on that occasion and this is a deeper race.
Harswell Ruby (IRE)
Winner over 1m at Thirsk (good to soft) in April and another good effort at that venue when fourth last month. Dropped in from wide draw and did all she could at Beverley 17 days ago.
