Timeform View

WOVEN is now firmly into the veteran stage but having caught the eye when fourth on reappearance at Doncaster, he comfortably fared best of those drawn high when seventh in a stronger C&D handicap at last month's Dante Meeting. He could be worth chancing in a wide-open race from a further reduced mark, with Winged Messenger, Manila Scouse and Rousing Encore just a trio of others to consider. Recent C&D winner Lord Roxby is another well in the mix.

Timeform Comments

Territorial Knight
Plenty of good efforts last season, scoring at Doncaster prior to signing off with a good fifth in the Ayr Bronze Cup. Did best of those ridden close up when fifth on return at Doncaster and whilst far from disgraced back there latest, any easing of the ground would likely aid his cause.
Rousing Encore (IRE)
C&D winner who doubled his tally for 2025 at Ayr in September and has looked as good as ever in defeat so far this year, again better than he could show when fourth at Carlisle (6f) 2 weeks ago, left with too much to do. Certainly on a workable mark for all he's less than ideally drawn.
Bergerac (IRE)
C&D winner who had excuses when down the field on final 2 starts in big-field handicaps on final 2 starts of 2025. Looked rusty when well held on return over 5f here 4 weeks ago and no surprise to see him take a step forward in refitted cheekpieces.
Westmorian
Completed hat-trick at Lingfield last spring but lost his form after, refusing to race final start. Entitled to strip fitter for last month's reappearance run at Thirsk but others boast more convincing profiles.
Woven
Veteran who took advantage of drop in grade when successful at Ayr in October. Caught the eye when fourth on return at Doncaster and better than distance beaten suggests from a tough draw when seventh in a C&D handicap at the Dante Meeting. Interesting from further reduced mark down in class.
Winged Messenger
Enjoyed a fine 2025 when a 3-time winner, signing off with success in Ayr Bronze Cup (6f) in September. Reappearance fourth at Redcar (6f) minus usual cheekpieces (refitted here) was a solid display and he's respected having ran well on sole previous visit to the Knavesmire.
Lord Roxby (IRE)
Hails from a stable that definitely turned a corner last month and bounced back to his very best having fallen back down to last winning mark when bagging a 20-runner C&D handicap 3 weeks ago, by a length from Yes I'm Mali. Can get competitive again.
Musical Touch (IRE)
Enhanced his good record fresh when justifying support in 10-runner Southwell handicap (6f) in April. Appeared inconvenienced by the flag start (very slowly into stride) when seventh at Ripon 5 weeks ago and he should bounce back.
Grant Wood (IRE)
Enhanced fine record at Newcastle with back-to-back 6f wins there on first 2 starts this season. Fared best of those that forced the pace when third of 9 at Ripon (6f, good) on penultimate start and found himself not ideally placed at Carlisle since. Eased 1 lb ahead of this.
Duran (IRE)
Dual course winner who resumed winning ways at Haydock (5f) 13 months ago. Plenty of creditable efforts in defeat followed and easy enough to overlook last month's Ascot run having been caught on the outer from a poor draw. Better anticipated for stable going well.
Kodiac Thriller (IRE)
Hit the frame in top-end sprint handicaps last season and was all the better for his reappearance when notching a third career success at Ripon in April. However, not in anything like the same form at Ascot (6f) since. Bounce back called for.
Yes I'm Mali
All the better for reappearance/stable debut when scoring at Thirsk (6f) in April and posted another solid effort when second in a similar C&D handicap 2 starts back. Latest Thirsk fifth up in class highlighted he remains in form and possibilities despite his wide draw.
Manila Scouse
Cashed in off much-reduced mark at Thirsk (6f) in July and he comes here having posted excellent placed efforts, splitting a far less exposed pair when runner up at Thirsk (6f) 13 days ago. Nudged up 2 lb but respected nevertheless in this groove.
El Bufalo
All 4 career victories on all-weather, recording back-to-back 5f wins at Wolverhampton at the turn of the year. However, produced a career best when finding only one too good at Chepstow (5f) 23 days ago. Not without each-way hope in this deeper affair.
Lethal Nymph
Successful twice over 5f last autumn and got back on track granted a better track position when fourth of 21 in handicap here in May. However, followed that with a below-par display last time and others rate stronger now stepping back up to 6f.
Almarada Prince (IRE)
Signed off for Ivan Furtado with a good second at Kempton in October but couldn't build on the promise of his penultimate Ripon sixth (drawn on wrong side) when filling same spot behind Lord Roxby over C&D 3 weeks ago. One of 3 runners from the Paul Midgley stable.
Archduke Ferdinand (IRE)
Defied a 7 lb higher mark at Redcar (6f) last May and steadily found his form this spring, building on his opening pair of efforts when third back at that venue 3 weeks ago. Inside berth to work from here and he's an each-way player.
Secret Guest
On a long losing run but he arrives having posted one of his better recent efforts when finishing a close-up fifth at Hamilton (6f) 4 weeks ago, having been ridden more positively than is often the case. Finds himself on career-low mark but not figured on 2 previous visits here.
Kats Bob
Successful 5 times in 2025, including when making all in this race from a 3 lb higher mark. Posted plenty of solid efforts in defeat more recently, including when fourth at Doncaster (6f) 8 days ago but his wide draw makes things tricky here.
Irish Nectar
Course winner who signed off for Kevin Ryan with a close second at Pontefract in October and bounced back to form returned to all-weather when finishing fourth at Kempton 24 days ago. Would be of interest if rain arrives (all 3 victories gained on soft/heavy).
Sports Coach (IRE)
Scored at Southwell (5f) in March and arrives having been far from disgraced in a pair of deeper 5f handicaps here on his last 2 starts. Has fallen 3 lb below last winning mark and return to 6f worth exploring.
Bonnie's Boy
Capitalised on a career-low mark when shedding maiden tag at Newcastle (5f) in October and ran with credit from much-inflated mark on 2 of his 3 starts thereafter last winter, posting a creditable fourth back at that venue on New Year's Day. This looks warm enough on return, however.
