Timeform View

Marginal preference in this tightknit handicap is for JIMMY MARK who shaped well when runner-up on return at Bath and can build on it returned to a longer trip and go one better. Mrembo and Seventy fought out a good finish over C&D recently and seem sure to go well again, while Victors Spirit can also play a prominent role now the headgear goes back on.

Timeform Comments

Victors Spirit (SAF)
Improved when hooded on the all-weather this spring, scoring at Southwell (11f) in April. Went without hood and too free on his turf debut when last of 7 at Newbury (1¼m) 14 days ago. No surprise to see him get back on track with headgear now refitted.
Educator
Back-to-back winner around this time last year (including over C&D) but winless since and only eleventh of 15 in handicap at Newbury (1½m) 31 days ago. Blinkers replace cheekpieces here.
Big Bear Hug
Goodwood winner last June. Mostly struggled after but much better signs with third of 8 in handicap at Lingfield 27 days ago when faring best of those held up. Needs to back it up now.
Seeking Charles (FR)
Fair maiden at his best on Flat. Off since coming in seventh over hurdles at Kempton (2m) in March so needs to hit the ground running.
Stipulation (IRE)
Reliable sort who bagged back-to-back handicaps at Yarmouth and Wolverhampton last autumn. Rare poor effort after 4 months off when last of 8 at Wolverhampton 4 weeks ago. The type to quickly bounce back though.
Seventy
Carried on his good spell from all-weather when winning over 1¼m here in May. Beaten a head by Mrembo over C&D three weeks ago and he can make his presence felt again off the same mark.
Mister Daydream (IRE)
Dual winner at up to 11f last spring and signed off for Charlie Johnston with good Chelmsford second in October. Off 8 months before coming in last of 7 for new yard at Brighton (1½m) 17 days ago, however.
Mrembo
Ended a losing sequence in 3-runner handicap over C&D 21 days ago, knuckling down well to edge out Seventy by a head. She's not taken lightly nudged up 1 lb now back on song.
Jimmy Mark (IRE)
Ended last season out of form but made a promising return from 7 months off when second of 9 in handicap at Bath (1¼m) 20 days ago. Weighted to go close off an unchanged mark with this step back up in trip also a likely plus.
