The handicapper might have been a bit premature splitting FEDERAL ENVOY's turf and all-weather marks and he gets the nod to make a winning start for the Charlie Clover yard. The class-dropping Mr Cool is next on the list ahead of Tim Easterby's Fan Mail.

Timeform Comments

Mr Cool (IRE)
C&D winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2025. 17/2, seventh of 9 in handicap at Pontefract (6f, good) 16 days ago, not helped by getting taken on for the lead. That was a Class 4 and should find life easier in this lower grade.
Wish This
Ended 2025 with 6f win at Newcastle in November but yet to fire in 4 runs this year. Starting to look well handicapped as a result but need to see more.
Liosa (IRE)
All 4 of his wins have come on the all-weather but latest sixth of 14 in handicap at Windsor (6f, good to firm, 14/1) was respectable and he's been eased another 2 lb since. Rookie trainer among the winners.
Fan Mail
Successful at Southwell (6f) in October. Cheekpieces fitted and placed for the first time since when runner-up in 12-runner handicap at Carlisle (6f) last month, just failing. Respectable effort in blinkers at Thirsk since. Cheekpieces return now. Enters calculations.
Big Apple Jack
Ended 2025 out of form. Returned with an encouraging second of 7 over 6f at Nottingham in April but failed to build on it when eighth of 11 at Southwell since, although it was his first outing away from turf. Visor goes back on for only a second time.
Rajstar (IRE)
Off the mark in 6f handicap at Newcastle in February. Might have found the outing coming too soon when well held back there 10 days later. Given a break since.
Federal Envoy (IRE)
Three-time all-weather winner who was a creditable fifth of 10 at Southwell (7f) in April (final start for Iain Jardine). Has a lower mark on turf and might be worth chancing on first run for Charlie Clover.
Fircombe Hall
A dual 6f scorer at Wolverhampton in March. Some creditable efforts since, including turf, but latest Wolverhampton ninth wasn't one of them.
