Timeform View

No shortage of chances but course winner JESMOND DAWN arrives having posted easily his most encouraging effort for some time when second in a higher grade at Ripon 16 days ago and earns the vote to build on that now. Mayo County goes particularly well here and is feared, with Dancing With Drums and Mecca's Symphony others to consider.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Stoneywell traded at 10% or less of Betfair SP and 50% or less of Betfair SP on 2 of its last 5 starts: Mecca's Symphony traded at 10% or less of Betfair SP, 25% or less of Betfair SP and 50% or less of Betfair SP on 3 of its last 3 starts.

Timeform Comments

Jesmond Dawn (IRE)
Course winner who ended 2025 well below best but he ran well back on turf following 4 months off when second at Ripon (1m) 16 days ago. Raised 2 lb on the back of that but definite claims with a repeat returned to class 6 company.
Valentine Catcher
Course winner who arrives on a long losing run but matched the form of his penultimate Ayr fourth when finishing third at Carlisle (7f) 3 weeks ago, albeit going in snatches. Each-way claims again.
Super Hit (FR)
Without a win in 19 starts and hampered by running too freely since joining current yard in April, including when seventh of 11 at Bath 4 weeks ago. Hood back on may help him settle.
Looks Fantastic
Built on a more encouraging run on all-weather when shedding maiden tag over C&D in April. However, hasn't replicated that in 2 starts since, looking unsuited by the drop to 6f when well held at Leicester 25 days ago. This rates more suitable.
Mayo County
Goes well at this track, registering a second C&D success in May. 6 lb rise seemed enough to anchor her when fourth at Doncaster (7f) 2 weeks ago but a return to this venue rates an obvious plus.
Stoneywell
Hasn't gone on since handicapping, though did run one of his better races when not beaten far into seventh at Chepstow (7f) 4 weeks ago. Eased 3 lb ahead of this and he comes here with yard amongst the winners.
Reginald Charles
Ended 2025 with 7f success at Southwell and performed creditably in a trio of starts so far this year. fifth in 16-runner handicap at Doncaster (7f) in April. No reason why he won't give another good account.
Mecca's Symphony
Lightly-raced sort who stepped up markedly on reappearance run equipped with a tongue strap when 2 lengths second behind reopposing Mayo County over C&D 25 days ago. Hails from a stable amongst the winners and she looks up to defying this much reduced mark.
Palmarian
Winless from 10 runs and yet to fire this season since joining from John & Thady Gosden in April, albeit having little go right (not clear run) when ninth of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (7f) 2 weeks ago. Eased further in weights ahead of this and good gallop will see him to better effect.
Travis
Winner over 7f at Thirsk last summer and returned to action with a good second at Newcastle (7f) in March. However, has failed to beat a rival on each of his last 2 starts and he now has something to prove.
Front Gunner (IRE)
Landed this race from a 2 lb lower mark 12 months ago and went in again at Newcastle in November (trained by Ann Duffield). Form has been up and down for Stephen Hanlon since the turn of the year but player on pick of his form starting out for another new yard.
Dancing With Drums (IRE)
Registered a third victory on all-weather at Kempton (6f) in May and surpassed what he had achieved previously on turf when third at Chepstow (6f) 4 weeks ago. Worthy of a second look back up at 7f.
Operation Gimcrack (IRE)
Has scored twice on all-weather this year, latterly at Newcastle (7f) in February. Not disgraced when fifth back at that venue next time and best excused latest Thirsk run having found to be coughing post-race.
Raja Charger
Failed to beat a rival in 4 novice events and fared no better switched to handicapping here 6 weeks ago. Cheekpieces worn then are now replaced by blinkers.
