Timeform View

CARRY THE FLAG is the obvious one having been reeled in only late by Tuesday's Coventry winner Great Barrier Reef in the Marble Hill at the Curragh. This stiff 5f should be ideal for the son of No Nay Never (winner of this race in 2013) and he can provide Aidan O'Brien with a record-breaking fifth win. Where Love Lives is another whose form has been boosted by the Coventry, while the betting suggests Ez Tina is the pick of Wesley Ward's 3 fillies.

Timeform Comments

Agamemnon
Sales price more than doubled at the Breeze-Ups and showed why he was punted on debut (failed to handle the track at Newmarket) when winning Wolverhampton novice in a good time under this rider. More to come so not to be underestimated.
Blake's Monarch (IRE)
Just touched off on debut at Wolverhampton (6f) before too keen at Chester. Drop down in trip will help but this is a massive ask.
Carry The Flag (IRE)
No Nay Never colt who made heavy weather of landing skinny odds at Naas on second start but looked much sharper when reeled in only late by subsequent Coventry winner Great Barrier Reef in Marble Hill at the Curragh 4 weeks ago. The one to beat on that form with this stiff 5f sure to suit.
El Floridita
Didn't have to improve from debut to win Redcar maiden but that form is weak in the context of this.
Flight Signal
82,000 gns foal, £180,000 2-y-o, Mehmas colt. Half-brother to 5.7f-7f winner Thurso. Dam 5f winner. Bred to be speedy and looked just that when clocking a good time to win 5-runner Bath novice 4 weeks ago. Runner-up has since boosted the form in the Coventry but stable remain quiet.
Force Noir (IRE)
€68,000 foal, €130,000 yearling, Persian Force colt. Half-brother to several winners, including 2-y-o 7.4f winner Andromaca. Confirmed debut promise when easy winner of ordinary maiden at Naas when in the care of Robson De Aguiar. This much harder but he has potential. Headgear goes on.
Mr Macartney
Knew a lot more when landing maiden at Leicester but limitations have been exposed since. Headgear on.
Mussab
5,000 gns yearling, 52,000 gns 2-y-o, Ten Sovereigns colt. Dam 6f winner. Offered something to work on when third in a York novice but the 2 who beat him that day have since let the form down.
New Yorker (USA)
Landed the odds in workmanlike fashion in a 5f maiden at Dundalk on debut but has failed to match that form switched to turf in 2 starts since. Hooded.
Orthodox
175,000 gns foal, €175,000 yearling, Havana Grey colt. Half-brother to 1m winner Hello Sweetheart. Dam, 2-y-o 5f winner, half-sister to smart 2-y-o 5f winner Heartache. All the rage for a Salisbury maiden on debut and delivered in likeable fashion. Form is ordinary but he has plenty of potential.
Persian Spring (IRE)
Persian Force colt who confirmed debut promise in spades when reeling in the front runner in 15-runner novice at York. Stable has good record in this and can go well under Spencer.
Savage Mariner (IRE)
80,000 gns 2-y-o, Blackbeard colt. Half-brother to smart 9f-1½m winner Eternal Hope. Dam, 2-y-o 7f winner, half-sister to very smart winner up to 1¼m Rio de La Plata. Pulled clear with Libertango (engaged to run in Albany on Friday) when second in Leicester maiden, shaping as if 5f will suit.
Social Symbol (USA)
$60,000 yearling, £145,000 2-y-o, Violence colt. Brother to smart US winner up to 8.5f Royal Spa. Dam US 5.5f-7f winner. Knew what was required to make a winning start at Ripon despite having little strength behind him in betting. Third has since boosted the form and yard won this in 2019.
Sovereign Glory
Confirmed debut promise ridden in contrasting fashion (held up) when winning Bath novice but this is a huge step up.
Star Prospect (IRE)
Looked something out of the ordinary when making a winning debut at the Curragh, having to wait for a gap before quickening up well to beat Carry The Flag. Not seen to best effect in a steadily-run event at Naas since and he remains with plenty of potential. Interesting.
Tribeca (IRE)
€250,000 yearling, resold 575,000 gns yearling, Blue Point colt. Dam, 1¼m winner, sister to smart 9f/1¼m winner Carla Bianca. Looked a good prospect when coming from off the pace to make a winning debut in maiden at Navan under this rider. That form has plenty of substance so he's not taken lightly.
Underdog
£140,000 yearling, Perfect Power colt. Half-brother to several winners, including useful 2-y-o 5f winner Well Done Fox and 2-y-o 5f winner Excellently Poised. Made winning debut in Sandown novice last week but time/form is ordinary.
Where Love Lives (IRE)
£55,000 yearling, Cotai Glory colt. Half-brother to 2-y-o 7f winner Inbetty. Dam 2-y-o 5f/6f winner. Justified favouritism in good style at Thirsk and overcame lingering greenness when following up in listed race at Sandown, holding off subsequent Coventry runner-up Adaay of Scarlett.
Ez Tina (USA)
$600,000Y by Golden Pal. Dam, US 6.5f winner, half-sister to dual US Grade 3 winner. Looked a potentially smart prospect when making a winning debut in 6-runner maiden at Woodbine, making all and not fully extended. One of 3 runners for US trainer who has won this race twice.
Fanshell Beach (USA)
$80,000Y by Corniche. Half-sister to several winners, mostly in North America. Dam US winner up to 1m (including minor stakes and 5.5f-7f at 2 yrs). Knew job when beating a next-time-out winner at Churchill Downs in April. One of 3 runners for US trainer who has won this race twice.
Through The Years (IRE)
No Nay Never filly. Sister/closely related to 2 winners in North America. Dam, US 5f winner. Put experience to good use when winning 5-runner maiden at Aqueduct, breaking track record in the process. One of 3 runners for US trainer who has won this race twice, including with this one's sire.
