Timeform View

BARLEYBROWN remains on a handy mark after a narrow miss here last time and he gets the vote over hat-trick seeking Woodleigh, who returns to the all-weather (0-11) in the form of his life on turf. The draw could have been kinder to Sassy Glory, but she could be dangerous if able to dominate, while Cable Beach is another to note in a competitive affair.

Timeform Comments

Woodleigh (IRE)
Followed up his Redcar success (1¼m) with something to spare at Doncaster (1m) last time. Benefits from an ease in grade despite carrying a 5 lb penalty and while he'll need to break his all-weather duck (0-11) to make it a hat-trick, that's wholly possible in his current vein of form.
Oselton
Improved performer in 7f all-weather handicaps last autumn, winning at Southwell prior to finishing a close fourth here. Went close second time up at Doncaster this season (best excused latest run) and is well worth another go over 1m on return to this surface.
Barleybrown
Has run well in defeat here this season, finishing third in a better race on return in March before looking a little unfortunate not to collect in a similar event here last time. He isn't always the most willing under pressure, however, Joanna Mason may be able to nurse him to a fifth C&D success.
Kalikapour (IRE)
Dual all-weather winner is entitled to be fitter for his Redcar comeback (cheekpieces also refitted here), though is primarily campaigned over further nowadays.
Little Ted
Quirky sort who returned to form with a C&D fifth/close second at Musselburgh before seemingly not taking to a visor at Beverley last time, and it's no surprise to see usual cheekpieces quickly back on.
Trais Fluors
Often slow-starting veteran who hasn't been at his best since recording a fourth C&D success, though there was some mitigation for his latest effort here, and he cannot be discounted off a falling mark if breaking reasonably.
Sassy Glory (IRE)
Sole success came under a positive ride over C&D last September and she makes appeal on the back of a season's best effort when close second off this mark at Beverley (1¼m), for all stall 1 isn't ideal for one with her style.
Abu Royal (IRE)
Has drawn a blank since his Ayr maiden win for Charlie Johnston in 2023, though he ran one of his better recent races when a (50/1) third (behind unlucky Barleybrown) over C&D last time.
Cable Beach
In good form since winning at Southwell (7f) in November, hitting the frame here and at Southwell prior to being denied a clear run on return from 4 months off over C&D last time, and he's one for the shortlist.
I Can Boogy
Won a C&D classified event in February but finds life tougher in handicap company nowadays, for all she met trouble in running when sixth of 14 in this grade at Beverley last time.
Mavetheforcebewivu
Long-standing maiden who returned to form from out of the blue when runner-up at Beverley on her latest start, likely to have finished even closer had the breaks come earlier, and she's proven herself effective over this course.
Shimmering Spirit (IRE)
Modest sixth here on qualifying run (6f) but well held both handicap starts over longer trips, latterly at Ripon (1m), and hopes seemingly pinned on first-time cheekpieces.
Space Moon (IRE)
Maiden who seemed stretched by the trip when a close fifth on handicap debut over C&D in March. Eases in grade but no guarantee she settles well enough to get home in first-time cheekpieces (keen to post when well beaten at Wetherby latest).
