GOODWIN FACE is a rare Cartmel runner for the Chris Gordon yard and looks the type to relish the idiosyncrasies of the track. He's preferred to the James Moffatt pair, with Book of Secrets particularly interesting if recapturing last summer's course form.

Timeform Comments

Garrick Painter (IRE)
Irish raider who landed a gamble to get off the mark over hurdles at Perth this time last year. Expected to come for his comeback at Wexford and while his inflated British mark certainly makes life tougher, he's again worth a look in the betting.
Envious Editor (IRE)
Veteran who was well held in a Cheltenham hunter chase when last seen under Rules in May 2025. Has joined new yard since finishing runner-up in a couple of points last month, but he's opposable over hurdles for the first time in over 5 years. Blinkers/tongue strap on first time under Rules.
Lightening Company (IRE)
Ground-versatile performer who had some strong form here last summer but blemished a fine course record when pulled-up in the Cartmel Cup in August. In good heart on the Flat this year, though, and he ought to at least be competitive on return to hurdles.
Jolie Coeur Allen (FR)
Free-going front runner who got off the mark at Sedgefield (good to firm) last October. Not in the same form over the same C&D in March, however, she's more than capable fresh and quick conditions around here should prove right up her street.
Dog Fox
Has popped up with a handicap win each of the previous 2 years, his latest coming off this mark at Uttoxeter last July, and he's entitled to go well on the back of a creditable reappearance fifth at Bangor.
Goodwin Face (FR)
Smooth-travelling sort who benefitted from being ridden cold when opening his account in convincing fashion (at the expense of a subsequent winner) in a Plumpton handicap last time and similar tactics could see him make a bold bid to follow up, on a track that ought to suit his style well.
Book Of Secrets (IRE)
Again failed to justify support when well held in a C&D seller last time, however, he had been off for 8 weeks prior to that run and is very well handicapped on last summer's course form.
Dusky Days (IRE)
Versatile type who capitalised on a falling mark when successful over C&D on third start for current yard last July before finishing runner-up in a pair of handicaps over longer trips here. Finding his form so far this season (took 3/4 runs to get there 2025/26) and may well make more impact here.
Zamond (FR)
Placed twice over C&D last summer before snapping a long losing run at Sedgefield and having only been beaten by a gambled-on rival at Newcastle in December, he should again be competitive off this sort of mark, with last month's comeback run under his belt.
Out Out (IRE)
Runner-up in a bumper/handicap hurdle before ending his time with Dan Skelton on a low note last April. He did win a match event between the flags the following month, but the market can guide having been off for over a year prior to this stable debut.
Blue Siam (IRE)
Modest maiden on the Flat who made more impact than previously over hurdles when third in first-time cheekpieces at Stratford on handicap bow. That form is unlikely to be good enough, though first-time visor/unique track may at least perk her up following a lesser effort at Newton Abbot latest.
