Timeform View

Lots with chances but SPORTS COACH has slipped to a good mark and hinted at a revival when eighth in a big-field York handicap last time so gets the vote. Recent Newmarket scorer Ancient State heads the list of dangers turned out under a 5 lb penalty, although Miss Rainbow, Irish Nectar and Call To Action all need factoring in too.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Ancient State traded at a high of 50.00 and Betfair SP of 41.39 when winning last time, a race in which it raced in mid-field.

Timeform Comments

Irish Nectar
Sixteen runs since his last win in 2024 but he comes here in good nick for his current yard, snatched up late when tenth of 21 in handicap at York (6f) 13 days ago. One to consider off an easing mark.
Sports Coach (IRE)
C&D winner. Took a step back in right direction from less-than-ideal draw with eighth of 21 in handicap at York (6f) 13 days ago. Weighted to go very well eased 1 lb for all his draw in stall 1 is a slight concern.
Call To Action (IRE)
C&D winner who posted a good second of 6 in handicap at Hamilton (5f) 22 days ago, just failing. Ought to be thereabouts.
Ancient State (IRE)
Has improved for the switch to Adam Kirby this season, bagging a second win in 16-runner handicap at Newmarket (6f) a week ago. Not taken lightly under a 5 lb penalty.
Tiriac
Dual C&D winner late in 2025. Yet to fire this season though, only seventeenth of 20 in handicap at York (6f) 34 days ago.
Blind Beggar (IRE)
Winner at Sandown (5f) last summer for Michael Appleby and went close over the same C&D on stable debut. However, he's been well below form in 4 outings this year.
Tanjen (IRE)
C&D winner in August but his more recent form is much less encouraging, just seventh of 11 in handicap at Thirsk (5f) 21 days ago. Needs to take a big step forward.
Fierce (IRE)
Bagged a pair of 6f wins last year and has returned in good form, third of 9 in handicap at Beverley (5f) 10 days ago. Possibilities.
Harb
Resumed winning ways at Carlisle in May but he came in last of 6 in handicap at Hamilton (5f) 22 days ago. This C&D scorer needs to bounce back.
Azuinthejungle
Completed a hat-trick at Ayr (5f) last summer. Steadily back to form this season, not enjoying a clear run when seventh of 9 in handicap at Beverley (5f) 10 days ago. Needs considering.
Little Mi Mi (IRE)
Improved performer this year, winning twice over C&D. Posted another good effort with fourth of 7 in handicap at Musselburgh (5f) three weeks ago so she's not out of things.
Maldevious (IRE)
Still a maiden but she comes here in good form, third of 8 in handicap at Hamilton (6f) 9 days ago. Enters calculations in first-time cheekpieces.
Miss Rainbow (IRE)
Advanced her form with success in 12-runner handicap at Thirsk (5f) three weeks ago, always holding on. Up 4 lb but form franked so this course winner can go well again.
Henery Hawk
A 4-time C&D winner who also notched at Wolverhampton (5f) in April. Comes here on the back of a good third of 6 in handicap at Ayr (5f) last month so ought to be in the shake-up.
