Timeform View

LITTLE BECK ANNIE was transformed by the fitting of cheekpieces when readily gaining a breakthrough victory at Carlisle and can make light of a 5 lb penalty here. Tommy McJohn could emerge as the main danger if, as expected, taking a step forward for Adrian Keatley, while JKR Cobbler and Ridgemaster can both have a say too in this open handicap.

Timeform Comments

Miners Gamble (IRE)
Thirteen runs since his sole win in 2024 and he comes here on the back of a below-form eighth of 14 in handicap at Doncaster (1¼m) in March. More needed after a break.
Tommy Mcjohn (IRE)
Signed off for Ciaran Murphy with good third at Dundalk (5f) in January. Made an encouraging start for Adrian Keatley with fifth at Ayr in May and not seen to best effect after a tardy start when seventh of 11 at Southwell (6f) 36 days ago. Not out of things.
Jkr Cobbler (IRE)
C&D winner who recorded a solid fourth of 12 in handicap at Carlisle (1m) 11 days ago. Back down in trip and in the mix.
Little Beck Annie
Much improved in first-time cheekpieces when gaining a first win in 8-runner handicap at Carlisle (6f) 11 days ago. Well on top at the finish there so big shout under a 5 lb penalty with the headgear retained.
Angel Of England
Twenty seven runs since his last win in 2023 and only sixth of 9 in handicap at Wetherby 11 days ago. Not the easiest to catch right.
Haworth Star (IRE)
C&D winner. Shaped as if in need of the run after 6 months off when a fading eighth of 13 in handicap at Bath last month. Can take a step forward.
Tickets
C&D winner in February and in good form since for Ben Haslam, fifth of 8 in handicap at Ripon (6f) 29 days ago. Needs considering for new yard with tongue strap added.
Ridgemaster (IRE)
Course winner in December and back in good nick of late, second of 8 in classified event at Ayr (7f) 6 days ago. Can make his presence felt again.
Vitalline
Won 7f classified event at Kempton in March but main below par since when hampered by slow starts. Others are more appealing.
Newyorkstateofmind
Winless since going in here in September 2024 and not proving easy to catch right this season. Others are preferred.
Summer Rain
Still a maiden and he's been below par on both runs for his new yard this summer. More is needed here.
She's A Goldigger
Yet to score but she ran with credit in a first-time hood when third of 9 in classified event at Nottingham (6f) 15 days ago. Possibilities.
Invincible Annice (IRE)
Ended a losing run over 5f here in November but well below that form since and offered little back on turf after 4 months off when twelfth of 17 in handicap at Thirsk (6f) in May. Visor replaces cheekpieces.
Sally Anne's Dream
Poor maiden who was fitted with eyeshields/blinkers when seventh of 8 in novice at Wolverhampton (5f) in November on her final run for Seb Spencer. More required for her new handler.
