FORTY YEARS ON turned a competitive Newbury handicap into a one-sided affair on reappearance 2 weeks ago and with the prospect of more to come and a good draw to exploit, she has plenty to recommend her. Bellarchi and Circe also arrive in top form, while Copacabana Sands is a danger to all on the pick of her efforts.

Timeform Comments

Circe (IRE)
Triple winner of 6f handicaps around this time last year and reached the frame in listed/Group 3 company at up to 7f in the autumn. Expertly prepared to make a winning reappearance at Musselburgh 3 weeks ago, proving 1¼ lengths too strong for Magic Basma. Stall 1 in her favour.
Beaujolais Nouveau
Ended 2025 out of sorts and quiet return to action but sparked into life by cheekpieces when winning 9-runner 6f handicap at Ripon by 2¼ lengths from Cotai Belle last month. Matched that form from revised mark at York but this demands more in listed company back at 7f.
Bellarchi (IRE)
Confirmed she's in the form of her life when enhancing already excellent Musselburgh record in 7f handicap a month ago. Easy to excuse effort over C&D prior to that and she's well worth a shot at this level.
Brazilian Rose (IRE)
Back on track in no uncertain terms in 2026, winning 4 handicaps at up to 7f. Another excellent effort when third at Newcastle in April and fared about as well as could be expected on tough terms switched to turf when fifth of 7 in this company at Musselburgh. Stall 11 makes life tricky.
Copacabana Sands (IRE)
Posted career best for former yard when taking Group 3 at Leopardstown over this trip 12 months ago. Not in same form thereafter and failed to meet expectations on reappearance for new yard at Lingfield. Eases in class and huge player on these terms if leaving that run behind. Hood off.
Dash Of Azure
Dual handicap winner last season who found plenty of improvement when narrowly beaten in 7f listed race at Ascot in October. Hasn't come close to matching that in 3 starts since and may need some give underfoot to be seen to best effect. Stall 10 could also have been kinder.
Forty Years On (IRE)
Proved most progressive on her debut season last year, bringing up the hat-trick at Ascot with a fair bit in hand on handicap debut in September. Only just denied the 4-timer at Southwell and took form to a new level when a ready winner of 15-runner contest at Newbury. Even more to come.
La Brodeuse
Fairly useful filly in France for Andre Fabre, albeit failed to make a significant impact in 2 listed outings. Transferred from one very powerful yard to another and much improved when ¾-length second of 7 to Royal Velvet in Chartwell Stakes at Lingfield. Behind a couple of these at Musselburgh.
Magic Basma (IRE)
Useful filly who reached the frame at listed level for a sixth time when 1¼ lengths second of 7 to Circe at Musselburgh 3 weeks ago. Very likely to give her running and shouldn't be much between that pair again.
Royalty Bay (IRE)
Confirmed promise of her reappearance when scoring for the first time since her 2-y-o days in a 7f handicap at Musselburgh 3 weeks ago. That confirms she's in good order but this demands plenty more.
Temperance (IRE)
Handicap winner in May but has done nothing in her career to suggest she's up to this level.
