Timeform View

A staying handicap that may well end up being fought out by the upwardly-mobile 3-y-os WHO'S LOPE and My Ballyquinn. The former improved a chunk in each of his 3 starts in novice company and bred to excel over this longer trip, he makes plenty of appeal. Of the older bunch, Secret Force was value for extra when scoring at Pontefract so he commands respect under a penalty.

Timeform Comments

Rock N Roll Pinkie
Steadily progressive handicapper who hit the target 3 times last season, including twice over 2m here. Sound-enough start to this season, faring about as well as could be expected in Group 3 Bronte Cup over C&D a month ago. This a much more realistic assignment.
Talismans Time
Lightly-raced gelding who won twice from 3 starts last year, both at Hamilton. Shaped as if amiss when last of 12 in Melrose Stakes over C&D last summer, and hardly allayed any worries on that score when eased off and pulled up at Musselburgh in April.
Secret Force (IRE)
Flat/hurdles winner during the winter in Ireland for Gavin Cromwell and cemented a very solid start for this yard when landing 5-runner handicap at Pontefract on Sunday. Value for a bit extra given how that race panned out so he needs considering under a 5 lb penalty.
Imperial Sovereign (IRE)
Remains with just a sole success but not for the first time caught the eye when seventh in the Plate at Chester in May, faring best of those held up having been poorly drawn. Failed to build on that in a 2m handicap back there, since though.
Gibside
Versatile regarding trip and ground, winning twice last season at up to 19f. Low-key start to this campaign but has dropped below last winning mark and best effort for a while when third at Catterick 16 days ago. Eased further 2 lb so clearly weighted to be very competitive.
Terrorise
Hurdles scorer last May and ran out an emphatic winner of a 2m handicap here in July. Ended 2025 with a poor run at this venue and continued out of sorts during the spring. Back up in distance and a visor may sharpen him up.
Draupnir
Landed 7f Thirsk handicap in September and back in good form this season, hooded when a strong-finishing fifth of 10 in a 9f handicap at Hamilton last month. Went with more zest when third over same C&D 3 weeks ago so a little surprising he's upped markedly in distance.
My Ballyquinn
New Bay gelding who took a step forward on his handicap bow when cosily landing 3-runner event at Hamilton (11f) last month, doing well given he conceded first run. Excellent second of 5 in handicap at Doncaster (1½m) last week and this 3-y-o is not yet exposed.
Who's Lope
Continued theme of big race-by-race progress when landing 3-runner novice at Beverley 4 weeks ago (1½m). Step up in trip sure to suit on breeding and he brings a very compelling profile to the table now handicapping.
