Timeform View

Preference is for BELIEVITANDUCAN, who was an emphatic scorer at Chester 4 weeks ago and looks well in under a 5 lb penalty. Last-time-out winners Shrimp Shady and Arc Zoosve rate the chief threat, whilst the Tony Martin duo, Alphonse Le Grande and Day Trader also warrant plenty of respect. Hermetic isn't one to be writing off either.

Timeform Comments

Charging Thunder
Five-time winner on Flat/over hurdles upon joining James Owen and also posted good third in the Northumberland Plate over C&D last term. Yet to score in 2026 however, and others appeal more.
Chemistry (IRE)
Listed winner over 1¾m for Aidan O'Brien in 2024 but not successful on the Flat since and finished well held in Chester Cup on last start in this sphere.
Alphonse Le Grande (IRE)
Won this contest in 2024 and landed the Cesarewitch at Newmarket later that year. Not scored since but hasn't been seen to best effect on several occasions, including in Chester Cup latest. Back on his last winning mark.
Shrimp Shady
Low-mileage 4-y-o who confirmed he's very much going the right way when successful over a longer trip on return to turf in the Chester Plate last month. 5 lb rise fair looks fair and he is one for the shortlist.
Artisan Dancer (FR)
Back on scoreboard at Southwell (2m) in March but been rather in and out more recently and arrives on back of a poor effort at Thirsk last month. Others more convincing.
Sax Appeal
Enjoyed a very productive campaign in 2025, winning 7 times upon an intense schedule. Posted solid third at Pontefract latest but is yet to score this year and may find this too competitive. Blinkers back on.
Laafy (USA)
Off nearly 4 years prior to 2 outings in 2025 and absent further 14 months before well beaten at Thirsk 27 days ago. Plenty to prove now in refitted visor.
Premiere Ligne (FR)
Progressive staying handicapper in 2024 but absent in 2025 and well below best in a couple of starts this year. Needs to take a big step forward on tapeta debut.
Believitanducan (IRE)
Successful 3 times over hurdles upon joining present stable and transferred his improvement to the Flat this term, scoring at Ascot and Chester (both 2m). Carries 5 lb penalty for latest success but another bold bid looks on the cards,
Brosna Town (IRE)
Run creditably on Flat and over hurdles for Dermot Weld last year but not seen for 8 months and looks on a stiff mark for return/debut for new yard here.
Hermetic
Won twice (including over 2m) from 4 starts for Christophe Ferland in France, and having joined present yard for €105,000, he finished an encouraging fourth in a competitive York handicap on return last month. Ran too bad to be true (got upset in stalls) at Goodwood since and not discounted here.
Savrola (IRE)
In fine form in 2025, his second success coming in this race from a 5 lb lower mark, but well below that level in both starts this year and is hard to recommend.
Arc Zoosve
Has proved a revelation for current yard, winning 6 times since December, including a ready victory on the all-weather at Lingfield (2m) last month. He still looks feasibly treated and must be of interest here.
St Faz (FR)
Won 4 of his first 5 starts over staying trips this year, latest in Musselburgh handicap (2m) in April. Improved again when good second of 13 in handicap at Thirsk (2m, good, 13/2) last month and is not taken lightly.
Fast Fred
Proved better than ever when scoring at Musselburgh (12.5f) in April and largely run well in defeat since, latest when fourth of 12 in handicap at Thirsk (1½m, good) 27 days ago. Longer trip no issue and ought to go well again.
Boxing Great (IRE)
Landed a gamble in 14-runner handicap at Dundalk (2m) in December and back to that sort of form when creditable sixth at Fairyhouse (1¾m, good to soft) 15 days ago. Others look better treated, though.
Treasure Islands
Off the mark at Ripon (2m) in April and capitalised on drop in grade when resuming winning ways in 4-runner handicap at Catterick (2m, firm) 5 days ago, very much having run of race. More on plate under 5 lb penalty here.
Haveyoumissedme
C&D winner who has shaped well over shorter trips this year, including when good third of 12 in handicap at this course (1¼m) 57 days ago. Figures off a handy mark and can make presence felt.
Clansman
In good form since reappearing in January, following a couple of solid placed efforts with a deserved first success on the all-weather here (12f) in March. Dug deep having looked in trouble to add to his tally at Southwell (2m) a month later but this is a much stronger contest.
Day Trader (FR)
Fair 2m winner over hurdles. Yet to make a real impact in a trio of starts over shorter trips on Flat for current yard but is worth monitoring in the market on first crack at longer distance here.
