HARRY BROWN goes off the same mark as when narrowly denied at Brighton last Monday and gets the vote for Peter Crate. Apex Star is handily drawn for one who led for a long way when runner-up at Bath last time and is feared most ahead of Tony Carroll pair Neptune Legend and Kento.

Timeform Comments

The Feminine Urge (IRE)
C&D winner but has been below par since finishing third on Bath reappearance in April. Bounce back needed.
Kento
Won twice at Wolverhampton this spring and landed a third success of 2026 when showing a good attitude to shade a tight finish at Brighton (5f, good) last month. Good second there since. Ought to go well again.
Neptune Legend (IRE)
On a hat-trick after wins at Bath (5.7f, good to firm) and Brighton (6f, good to firm) in May. One of 2 solid contenders for Tony Carroll.
Cabeza De Llave
C&D winner whose losing run stretches back to 2024 but plenty of creditable efforts to his name last season and placed twice over C&D this year, including last time.
Harry Brown
Gained a first win on turf at the sixteenth attempt off his lowest ever mark at Lingfield (5f) last month. Went close to another at Brighton (5f, good) last Monday. Obvious chance off the same mark.
South Shore
Course winner. 15/8, respectable third of 9 in handicap at Beverley (5f, good to firm) 33 days ago (final start for Ruth Carr).
Diomed Spirit
Made more of an impact off lower turf mark when third at Bath (5f, good to firm) last month but not in the same form back there since and opposable on first start for Chris Gordon.
Happier (IRE)
A fair 5f/6f scorer during his time with Tim Easterby. Sharper for reappearance when fourth of 9 at Wetherby (5.5f, good to firm) a fortnight ago. May come on again and enters calculations under Tom Marquand.
Jowalla
Placed maiden/novice company on first 3 starts but has struggled since switched to handicaps.
Apex Star (IRE)
Has made a solid start in handicaps, proving himself on turf when 3 lengths second of 11 at Bath (5.7f, good to firm) 24 days ago. Likely to go well under Oisin Murphy.
Antiphon (IRE)
C&D winner. Twenty four runs since last win in 2024. Last of 9 in classified event at Leicester (5f, good, 11/2) on reappearance 21 days ago. Needs to have come on a lot.
Molly Mac (IRE)
Maiden but made a good return to action when second of 14 at Yarmouth (7f, good to soft) 19 days ago (only start for Mrs Ilka Gansera-Leveque). New trainer Micky Fenton had a winner recently.
Just King High (IRE)
Best effort since joining current yard when fourth of 7 at Southwell (7f) last month but only a respectable fifth of 11 over 6f here since. Down in trip again.
