Timeform View

This looks a pretty deep race for the grade with PHANTOM GOLD of particular interest given how strong he was at the line when second at Southwell 3 weeks ago. Al Mootamarid was also an eyecatcher last time, while Newport goes unpenalised and is a danger if taking up this engagement.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Uncle Remus traded at 25% or less of Betfair SP and 50% or less of Betfair SP on 2 of its last 5 starts: Phantom Gold has traded at 50% or less of Betfair SP twice on its last 4 starts.

Timeform Comments

Newport
Posted career best when winning 10-runner handicap hurdle at Hexham (2m) 10 days ago. Unpenalised for that and this consistent sort seems sure to go well again. Engaged 7.48 Stratford Tuesday.
Belcamo
Split a pair of improvers when runner-up in a Huntingdon maiden in November and having bounced back to that sort of form when opening his hurdles account at Fakenham in mid-January, he now returns in a stronger race after nearly 6 months off.
Jet Patrol (IRE)
Showed immediate benefit of a switch to James Owen with a comfortable Stratford success in August. Too free back at that venue next time but quickly back on the up when a comfortable scorer at Plumpton fitted with a tongue tie. Bled both times later in autumn and off since, so questions to answer.
Al Mootamarid (IRE)
A fair 1¼m Flat winner who opened his account in this sphere at Stratford last June. Fit from a spin on the level and very unlucky not to finish closer (perhaps even win) when third over C&D 2 weeks ago. Of serious interest from this mark.
Phantom Gold (IRE)
Fairly useful winner in bumpers who posted best effort in this sphere when very good second of 11 in handicap hurdle at Southwell (2m) 22 days ago, finishing with a rattle from an unpromising position. Looks very interesting from this sort of mark.
Mojo Ego (IRE)
Found some form for the refitting of blinkers last season, finishing runner-up in back-to-back Cartmel handicaps. Probably needed the run after 5 months off at Aintree but didn't come on for that back at local track last month and since claimed from James Moffatt. Headgear off.
Uncle Remus
Bumper winner on good ground. Too free to really fulfil potential over hurdles, weakening out of it on return from 6 months off at Ffos Las in May.
Both Of Us (IRE)
Fair winner on Flat (up to 2m) in 2025 for George Boughey. Still looked a bit rough around the edges when fourth on handicap debut over C&D having undergone a breathing operation.
Blazing Saint
Ignored in the betting but sprung a surprise on handicap debut after 3 months off at Southwell in May, finding extra. Up 4 lb from his very low base and there could be more to come.
Castle Quarter (IRE)
Opened his hurdles account on second run following a lengthy absence at Uttoxeter last spring. Mixed bag since, including on the Flat 17 days ago.
