Lots with chances but Hughie Morrison's unexposed KENNINGTON steps into handicaps on the back of a striking Lingfield novice success so gets the vote from Annastarzy, who impressed with her attitude when going in at Goodwood last time and rates a big danger. Huscal, Commander of Life and Best Rate all need factoring into this competitive handicap too.

Timeform Comments

Huscal (IRE)
Twelve runs since his last win but latest fourth of 10 in 1m handicap at Windsor was a step back in right direction. Weighted to go well off a 2 lb lower mark here.
Gallant (FR)
Keen-going sort who scored over 1m for Andrew Balding last June. Hasn't built on his best effort for present yard when second at Chelmsford (6f) in February. Others appeal more.
Best Rate
Consistent sort who hasn't won since December 2024 but comes here on the back of good runner-up efforts over C&D and at Newmarket (7f) last month. Considered.
Herculeus
Course winner who hinted at a revival with fifth of 12 in 1m handicap here last month. Not out of things if building on it with cheekpieces added.
Melvin Udall (IRE)
Made a winning seasonal/stable debut at Doncaster (7f) in March but below par since in 7f handicaps at Thirsk and Kempton. Needs to take a step forward.
Stratocracy (IRE)
C&D winner who comes here on the back of a good fifth of 14 in handicap at Wetherby (7f) four weeks ago. Needs considering eased 1 lb.
Mercury Day (IRE)
Ought to have landed a third career success at Newmarket last summer (reportedly struck into and just failed) but below form after 9 months off in 6f handicaps at Kempton and York this season.
Slipper Time
Keen-going sort who got off the mark in 7f novice at Salisbury last August. Has failed to kick on sent handicapping though, fifth of 10 at Chepstow (7f) 26 days ago.
Mr Ubiquitous
Got back on the up when landing 7f handicap at Kempton in March but off since beating one in 7f Yarmouth handicap following month. This C&D winner needs to bounce back after a break.
Annastarzy
Sea The Stars filly is on the up since sent into handicaps, bagging 1m events at Thirsk and Goodwood this summer. Up another 4 lb but this likeable type is likely capable of better still.
Kennington
Ardad gelding who built on debut promise to impressively land 7-runner novice at Lingfield (7f) 31 days ago. Showed a good turn of foot there so rates a most interesting handicap debutant.
Manly Fireball (IRE)
Gained a first win at the seventh attempt in 10-runner novice at Wolverhampton (6f) 30 days ago. More is needed at these weights reverted to handicap company however.
Commander Of Life (IRE)
Reliable sort who typically ran a sound race when fourth of 12 in 7f handicap at Doncaster 18 days ago. Not out of things in his bid to gain a first success of 2026.
Splash
Ended 2025 with an excellent second in 7f Newmarket novice in October. Off 6 months and only ninth of 11 on her handicap debut there (7f) in May. Needs to get back on track.
Euphonia
Looked on the up when bagging 7f handicaps at Leicester and Haydock. Only sixth of 10 in handicap at Sandown (7f) 20 days ago, though raced closer to the strong pace than ideal. Not written off.
