Timeform View

This is wide open but KING SHARJA rates just the pick of the weights so is taken to bag a fourth C&D success and edge out resurgent Carlisle runner-up Sir David. Both Jesmond Dawn and Reginald Charles can also play a prominent role.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Sir David traded at 10% or less of Betfair SP and 50% or less of Betfair SP on 2 of its last 5 starts: Tropez Power has traded at 50% or less of Betfair SP 3 times on its last 5 starts.

Timeform Comments

Jesmond Dawn (IRE)
Scored at Newcastle (7f) in November and back on song of late, third of 14 to Travis in handicap at Redcar (7f) 14 days ago when not ideally placed. Can make his presence felt.
Travis
Bounced back to form (without usual headgear) when landing 14-runner handicap at Redcar (7f) 14 days ago by 1¾ lengths from Reginald Charles. Enjoyed the run of the race there though and 6 lb higher now.
Qazaq (FR)
Winless since 2024 but he arrives in good nick, cheekpieces on for 1st time when third of 9 in handicap at Musselburgh (7f) 11 days ago. Blinkers reached for here and not out of things.
Tropez Power (IRE)
Twenty three runs since his last win in 2024 and he came in last of 8 in handicap at Redcar (7f) 57 days ago. Not easy to make a case for.
Reginald Charles
Ended 2025 with 7f success at Southwell and performing well this season, second of 14 behind Travis in 7f Redcar handicap 2 weeks ago. No reason why he won't give another good account.
Dr Rio (FR)
A 6-time course winner. Good third over 8.5f here in May before only eighth of 10 in handicap at Carlisle (11f) 24 days ago. Type to bounce back returned to this venue, however.
The Sweet Escape
Opened his account at Nottingham (1m) in April and mainly run with credit since, sixth of 11 in 1m Hamilton handicap last time. Does need to step up again if he's to play a lead role here, though.
Sunny Orange (IRE)
A 4-time course winner, including this race 12 months ago. Not at his best when fourth of 6 over C&D 10 days ago but the sort to bounce back round here returning to class 6 company.
Sir David (FR)
Sole success came over 7f at Carlisle last August for Stella Barclay. Easily best run for his current yard when second of 10 back there 25 days ago. Not taken lightly nudged up 1 lb.
King Sharja
A 3-time C&D winner who comes here on the back of a solid fourth of 8 in handicap at Carlisle (7f) 18 days ago. Weighted to go well eased 1 lb.
Electric Lightning
Free-going type who gained sole win at Doncaster (1m) last summer. Yet to fire in a pair of 7f/1m handicaps at Redcar this season so has something to prove.
