Timeform View

CILICIAN sets a useful standard and may well open his account with sights lowered. Gymbaazy and Collateral Damage both carry a penalty but can improve on their respective debut wins, while there's probably better to come from Encounter, too.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Collateral Damage shouldn’t be inconvenienced if looking to adopt a prominent position: Despite a suspicion the pace will be sound, those held up such as Dontlookbackinanga usually is are still likely to have their work cut out.

Timeform Comments

Collateral Damage (IRE)
270,000 gns Too Darn Hot colt. Overcame inexperience to make a winning debut with a bit in hand at Catterick (7f). Sure to build on that given his price tag/connections, and he has to be high on the shortlist.
Gymbaazy (FR)
Well-bred son of Siyouni. Overcame greenness to make successful debut over C&D (Encounter unlucky not to finish closer in third). Looks sure to improve on that effort, and he's expected to be in the shake-up under a penalty.
My A'ali Baba
Successful in strongly-run 6f event at Chepstow on debut. Backed that up when fifth of 6 at Goodwood latest. Longer trip should suit on first start since being gelded, though he's again likely to vulnerable under a penalty.
Beach Noir (IRE)
Foaled February 21. €100,000 yearling, 25,000 gns 2-y-o, Blackbeard gelding. Half-brother to useful 10.4f-1½m winner Winema. Dam unraced out of useful 10.5f winner Nobilis. Already been gelded and likely to need time.
Cilician (IRE)
Promising second behind experienced rival on debut at Nottingham. Advanced his form when eleventh of 21 in the Coventry at Royal Ascot subsequently. Bred to get 7f on dam's side, and a similar performance should be enough to take this.
Dontlookbackinanga (IRE)
€65,000 foal, 92,000 yearling. Acclamation colt. Brother to 3 winners, including very smart winner Tabarrak (2-y-o 7f winner) and useful winner up to 6f The Wagon Wheel (2-y-o 5f/6f winner). Dam 2-y-o 6f winner who stayed 1m. Bred to make an impact as a juvenile and is in the right hands to do so.
Encounter (IRE)
Well-backed second on debut at Lingfield. Improved despite trouble in running when 1½-lengths third behind Gymbaazy over C&D since. Unlikely we've seen the best of him, and it's notable that Ryan Moore returns.
Or Ever (IRE)
Foaled March 23. Mehmas colt. Half-brother to 2-y-o 6f winner Kindergarten (successful on debut). Positive jockey booking. Market usually a good guide with stable's newcomers.
State Of War
Made an unpromising start to his career when trailing the field at Newbury (6f), and he again looks the stable second string.
Storm Blade
Hails from family connections know well. Fair fourth on debut at Lingfield (6f, good to firm). James Doyle takes over, and he's expected to improve stepping up in trip.
The Balearic Sun (IRE)
Foaled April 24. 300,000 gns yearling, Lope De Vega colt. Half-brother to several winners, including very smart winner up to 16.5f Berkshire Rocco and useful winner up to 11f Elisaagain. Dam once-raced half-sister to smart 6f winner Projection. Expensive purchase from top yard needs a market check.
Walcourt (IRE)
€56,000 foal, €70,000 yearling. Churchill colt. Closely related to 7.5f/1m winner The Ginger Queen and winner up to 9f Szachrajka (2-y-o 6.5f winner, by Gleneagles) and half-brother to 2-y-o 7f winner Sollertia. Dam 1m/8.4f winner. Yard isn't a frequent source of debut winners.
