Timeform View

CARRY THE FLAG was disappointing at Royal Ascot but still sets the standard back in this lesser company. Abletai ran the selection close on their previous meeting and might prove the biggest threat again over Big Negotiator.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Carry The Flag traded at a low of 5.20 and Betfair SP of 4.30 when losing last time, a race in which it raced towards the rear.

Timeform Comments

Abletai (IRE)
Too free to do himself justice on debut but settled more efficiently and went down only on the nod to Carry The Flag in a C&D maiden 56 days ago. Solid place claims.
Carry The Flag (IRE)
Made hard work of landing skinny odds over C&D on second start but much sharper when caught only late by recent Coventry winner Great Barrier Reef in Marble Hill at the Curragh. Seemed to find the drop to this trip against him in the Norfolk at Royal Ascot but best form sets the standard.
Hanney Boy (IRE)
Consistent form when placed in 3 maidens but will need to find significant improvement to make his mark felt in this company.
Rejoinder (IRE)
€92,000 foal, €82,000 2-y-o. Space Blues colt. Closely related to useful winner up to 1m Thunder Beauty (2-y-o 6f winner) and half-brother to 3 winners, including useful 1½m winner Haku and 11f-1¾m winner Quita. Dam German 11f/1½m winner. Makes some appeal on pedigree but debut comes in listed race.
Arrowstock (IRE)
Shaped as if in need of the experience when 7½ lengths sixth of 9 to Cleodolinda in maiden at Navan on debut 27 days ago. Will need to leave that well behind.
Belle Island
Placed in a pair of small-field maidens on the polytrack at Dundalk but well beaten switched to turf last time, trailing home last of 6 in minor event at the Curragh (5f, heavy, 14/1) 76 days ago.
Big Negotiator
Pushed out to just hold off a fast-finishing runner-up and make it third time lucky in novice at York (5f, good) 3 weeks ago but found things too competitive in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot a couple of days later. Place claims back in grade, though.
Brazilian Diva (IRE)
Showed much improved form to get off the mark in an 8-runner maiden (22/1) at this C&D (good) 10 days ago, racing alone on the far side to lead over 1f out and score a shade cosily. Worth a crack at this higher grade.
Celestial Crown (IRE)
Close second of 6 in maiden at Cork (5f, heavy) on debut in April but was a long way below that level when 9¾ lengths seventh of 8 to Brazilian Diva in maiden at this C&D (good) 10 days ago. Needs to bounce back to figure.
Matriarchal (IRE)
Made it third time lucky in 7-runner maiden at Navan (5f, good to soft). Probably paid for her proximity to a strong gallop when fifth of 8 in novice at Lingfield (5f, good to firm, 7/2) 35 days ago but likely just playing for a place here.
