BRIDGE OF EAGLES wasted no time getting back on track and did well to make the placings given how the race unfolded when third in a C&D handicap 3 weeks ago. He hails from a yard that continue in great form and earns the vote. Akho Mezzna and Tambora finished a place either side of the selection on that occasion and ought to be in the thick of things again, with Nottingham scorer Barbury Boy also not out of things.

Timeform Comments

Valpovo
Fairly useful 9.5f winner in France who changed hands for 40,000 gns (also gelded) but finished well held on his return from 8 months off in a Chester handicap (10.3f, soft) 3 weeks ago. Eased 3 lb but looks best watched at present.
Sassicaia (IRE)
Beat several subsequent improvers when successful on debut at Wolverhampton (8.5f) in December and enhanced his form in defeat since, albeit too keen on first try at this sort of trip when third at Ascot in May. Gelded thereafter and unlikely we've seen all he has to offer.
Loblolly (IRE)
Won a 7f all-weather maiden at Lingfield last September and arrives having performed well on his last 2 visits here, third in 5-runner handicap (9f) on latest outing 3 weeks ago. Should give another good account now his stamina is tested further with Ryan Moore in the plate.
Bridge Of Eagles (IRE)
Improving sort who made a winning handicap debut at Goodwood (1¼m) in May (beat 2 next-time-out winners). Excuses at York later that month and quickly back to form when third in a C&D handicap 3 weeks ago, that despite not being ideally positioned. Remains one to be positive about.
Tambora
Pinatubo colt who boasts some solid Newbury form but couldn't find any immediate improvement from what looked a fair opening mark when fourth on C&D handicap debut 3 weeks ago, well positioned but lacking the turn of foot of the winner. Remains early days and not ruled out.
Akho Mezzna (FR)
Salisbury novice winner (7f) in the autumn who bettered opening exploits in handicaps this spring when second in a C&D contest 3 weeks ago, having both Bridge of Eagles and Tambora behind. Oisin Murphy again takes the ride and he's an obvious player with a repeat.
Barbury Boy
Made a successful switch to handicaps at Beverley in April (strong form) and quickly put a lesser Haydock run behind over further when resuming winning ways at Nottingham (1¼m) 31 days ago, doing well to come off a steady pace. 5 lb rise ought to see him competitive again at this trip.
St Hilda (IRE)
Saxon Warrior filly who has displayed race-by-race progress, again finding only one too good at Goodwood (1¼m) 6 weeks ago. That wasn't a particularly strong novice though, and more required in what is a warm looking handicap.
