Timeform View

This may go the way of one of the more experienced runners, with CIXI narrowly preferred to Hamda's Joy and Clementines Star. Likely improvers Miss Gallant and Honky Tonk Girl are also respected, while newcomer Royale Union warrants a market check in an open-looking novice.

Timeform Comments

Matilda Bea (IRE)
Shown little at long odds in 2 starts. Drops significantly in trip.
Ancient Realm
Saxon Warrior filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including 5f winner Hathfa and French 7.4f-10.4f winner Yardan. Dam unraced half-sister to very smart 6f winner Shalaa. Yard's newcomers typically better for a run and stall 14 isn't ideal.
Cixi (USA)
Showed fair form in Meydan over the winter. Pulled clear of the rest when third in Kempton maiden (7f) on return in early-May. Ran out of steam when fourth over longer trip at Goodwood (1¼m) latest, and she's entitled to run a big race back down in distance.
Hamda's Joy (IRE)
Consistent sort. Put her experience to good use when runner-up at Kempton (7f) last time, splitting a pair of newcomers (third a much-improved winner since). Merits consideration with good-value apprentice taking over.
Miss Gallant
Makes some appeal on pedigree. Offered something to work with when fourth behind Hamda's Joy (and a next-time-out winner) at Kempton (7f) on debut. Wasn't given a hard time that day, and she can progress for a good yard.
Royale Union (IRE)
€60,000 yearling, Starman filly. Half-sister to several winners, including very smart winner up to 6f Big Time Baby and smart winner up to 6f Charline Royale. Dam 2-y-o 7f-1m winner. Excellent yard had 5 first-time-out winners last month. One to keep a close eye on in the betting.
Sterling Fortune
Showed more than on debut when (100/1) fifth of 11 in maiden at Yarmouth (7f, good to soft). Run of this race probably won't be as favourable this time, though.
Victorian Rose (FR)
Hasn't beaten a rival in 2 starts to date.
Clementines Star
Third both starts as a 2-y-o at Newcastle. Looked well worth a go over this sort of trip when keeping-on third at Bath (5.5f) on return. That form has been given a couple of boosts, and she has to be high on the shortlist.
Honky Tonk Girl
Dream Ahead filly (half-sister to yard's useful Dr Strangelove). Penny dropped late when fifth of 11 on debut at Bath (5.7f). Has a bit to find with the principals but is expected to improve up in trip.
Coxy's Star
Showed more than first time up when fifth (behind Cixi) at Kempton (7f) on return in early-May. Longer trips/handicaps more likely to be her bag, though.
For Ever Hopefull (IRE)
Invincible Army filly. Half-sister to 7f-1m winner Liangel Hope and winner up to 11.5f Hasten Slowly. Dam winner up to 1m (2-y-o 7f winner). Stable an unlikely source of a debut winner.
Navona Grey
Promising fifth over this trip on debut at Chester (form has worked out well). Found drop back in distance against her when fourth at Bath (5.5f) subsequently, and she may just be a handicap project.
Twilight Baby
Well beaten in a valuable maiden on debut at Musselburgh (7f, soft) last November. Would need to leave that form well behind but at least worth a market check with Jason Watson booked (yard also saddles Navona Grey).
