Timeform View

The thriving GLORIOUS KITTY might be good for a third win in her last 4 starts, with this course promising to lend itself to her prominent run style. The fact Precious Spartan is 3-3 over C&D makes him a possible threat, while Volenti has hinted in recent starts that he may be able to cash in on his reduced mark.

Timeform Comments

Urban Road
Placed twice back on turf in the spring. Below par in big-field York handicaps on last 2 starts but should find life a bit easier in these slightly calmer waters.
Glorious Kitty (IRE)
Won handicaps at Ayr (1m, good to firm) and Carlisle (7f, good to soft) in May. Another good effort when runner-up back at Ayr (7f, soft) 17 days ago and high on the shortlist.
Up The Jazz (IRE)
Snapped a losing run going back to November 2024 when just holding on at Musselburgh (1m, good to firm) 14 days ago. Only 3 lb higher but a follow up seems unlikely given his overall profile.
Poet's Dawn
Veteran who capitalised on a career-low mark in good style over 1¼m here in May and added a 9f Musselburgh win last month. Latest sixth of 7 here (1¼m again) was a lesser effort, though. Back down in trip.
Popeye Doyle (FR)
Two all-weather wins for Hugo Palmer last summer. Proved he retains ability when second in first-time blinkers at Wetherby (1m, good to firm) last month but not in anything like the same form at Carlisle since.
Jesmond Dawn (IRE)
Scored at Newcastle (7f) in November and back to that sort of form when second over C&D (good to firm) last month. Respectable fifth of 12 at Beverley (7.5f, good to firm) on Friday and claims if coping with the quick turnaround.
Hopeful Joy
Modest form, making no impact in handicaps at Beverley and Pontefract on return in May. Needs to find improvement from somewhere.
Precious Spartan (IRE)
Three C&D wins (good/good to firm) on joining Patrick Neville last summer. Never involved on Catterick reappearance in April. Absent for a further 3 months but his record here means he could bounce back to form with a bang.
Volenti (IRE)
Has a basement mark to work with these days and his recent efforts suggest he may be able to take advantage of it before long, meeting trouble before staying on for third of 12 at Redcar (1m, good) 16 days ago. Considered despite being 2 lb out of the weights.
