Timeform View

SARANGPUR has had lots in hand when winning both turf starts for Richard Hughes and even a 10 lb higher mark shouldn't stop him if he's as effective on the all-weather. Brodie's Boy is down to a career-low mark and gets the nod for the forecast spot ahead of Maywedance.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Sarangpur traded at a high of 1.72 and Betfair SP of 1.65 when winning last time, a race in which it raced in mid-field and travelled strongly early on.

Timeform Comments

Big Bear Hug
Goodwood winner over 1½m last June. Mostly struggled after but much better signs with third of 8 in turf handicap at Lingfield (11.6f) last time, faring best of those held up. Claims if she can back it up.
Valentine Boy
Has shown improved form this season, resuming winning ways over 1m here in May. Creditable third back here next time but well held at Newmarket since. This venue seems to bring out the best in him but this significantly longer trip asks a different question (unraced beyond 1m).
Sarangpur (IRE)
Irish recruit who has run out the easy winner of 1½m handicaps at Brighton and Epsom since joining Richard Hughes. Another 10 lb higher but it doesn't look enough to prevent him completing a quick hat-trick.
Sonnerie Power (FR)
C&D winner in January. Creditable second of 14 over C&D 28 days ago. Likely to be competitive again.
Distinction (IRE)
Successful 3 times last year, including C&D. Back on what should be a good mark but hasn't really offered enough of late to suggest he's likely to capitalise.
Brodie's Boy (FR)
Just the 1 win his name but hasn't shaped too badly in a few of his recent starts and his mark continues to ease. Could go well.
Maywedance (IRE)
Back in cheekpieces, returned to form for current yard when winning 11-runner 1½m handicap here in May. Creditable third of 9 at Leicester (1½m, good) since.
