Timeform View

The big 3-y-o sprint handicap at York last month looks the key piece of form here, with the highly progressive THUNDER CALL taken to confirm his superiority over Red Spells Danger, who hasn't looked back since dropping to 6f. Sea Cookie scored in good style over C&D last month and is also shortlisted along with Palace of Holyroodhouse fifth Starmade.

Timeform Comments

Ten Carat Harry
Proved a revelation on the all-weather during the winter, winning 5 handicaps. Has continued to progress back on turf, including 6f Rowley course handicap win in May. Creditable never-nearer third of 27 in Palace of Holyroodhouse at Royal Ascot (5f, good to firm) latest. Return to 6f ideal.
May Angel
Useful sort who won a 7f novice last year. Returned from gelding and breathing operations with good thirds in 7f handicaps at Newbury and Ascot this spring. Found 5f on the sharp side in the Palace of Holyroodhouse at Royal Ascot but should be fully effective at 6f.
Jazl (IRE)
Gelded and vastly improved this year, landing 6f maiden at Windsor before following up in most impressive style in 12-runner handicap at Leicester (6f) by 2½ lengths from Pilu. Caught on far flank when last of 27 in Palace of Holyroodhouse at Royal Ascot since. He's a lot better than that.
Ghost Mode (IRE)
Raced mainly at 7f last year, landing a maiden at Chester. Much improved when making a winning handicap debut dropped to 6f at Southwell on return but has failed to build on it in his 3 outings since. Needs to bounce back with a bang.
Calico Blue
Landed a pair of 6f Chester novice events last summer. Has returned with fine in-frame efforts in 5f handicaps at Sandown and Royal Ascot (a place behind Ten Carat Harry). Should give a good account back up at 6f.
Red Spells Danger (IRE)
Has proved well suited by the drop to 6f, easily winning Ripon maiden and Hamilton handicap before improving again when ½-length second of 22 to Thunder Call at York (good to firm) 26 days ago. A 4 lb rise shouldn't prevent another bold bid from this progressive sort.
Advertised (IRE)
Dual winner at Newcastle as a juvenile. Started this season with a very good second on the Rowley course here but has failed to reproduce it twice since, finishing behind some of these at York last time.
Thunder Call
Wide-margin winner of 6f Kempton maiden on return. Progressed again when proving ½ length too strong for Red Spells Danger and 20 others on handicap debut at York (6f, good to firm) in June. This stiffer 6f should suit even better and he can make light of a 6 lb rise with more improvement to come.
Man Of Vision
All-weather novice winner over 7f at 2. Improved again tackling 6f for the first time when narrowly denied by Ten Carat Harry on 6f Rowley course reappearance. Only 5 lengths ninth of 22 to Thunder Call and Red Spells Danger at York since but he was caught away from where the main action unfolded.
Pilu (IRE)
Won his first 2 starts (around 6f) at Bath and Salisbury last August. Has advanced his form in defeat this season, posting an excellent 2½ lengths second of 12 to Jazl in handicap at Leicester (6f) last time. Considered.
Starmade (IRE)
Continued on an upward curve with a comfortable victory in 8-runner handicap at Newcastle (6f) in May. Caught the eye with the way he travelled but caught too far back when fifth of 27 in Palace of Holyroodhouse at Royal Ascot (5f, good to firm) since. Not yet fully exposed.
River Spey
Plenty of promise on turf last summer before landing the odds on all-weather debut at Chelmsford in October. Took his form up a level with success in 10-runner handicap at Windsor (6f) 38 days ago but more will be needed again off 4 lb higher in this ultra-competitive handicap.
Sea Cookie (IRE)
Promising second on both starts last year. Only had to step up a little on those efforts to make it third time lucky in 6f Newbury maiden on return but he found a good chunk of improvement when following up in C&D handicap (good to firm) 19 days later, well on top finish. More to come.
Mo Of Cairo
Close second in a 6f nursery at last year's York Ebor meeting. Back to somewhere approaching that level when 2¼ lengths fourth of 10 to River Spey at Windsor (6f, good to firm) 38 days ago. Needs to step up again.
