Timeform View

IMELDA may find her wide draw a potential stumbling block but she's got a good rider aboard and her unexposed nature and the form strength of her recent third makes her too compelling a case to ignore in this contest. Alfa Whiteburd is better berthed and could prove competitive from lower turf mark, while Black Rock Beauty is progressive so merits respect.

Timeform Comments

Law Of Design (IRE)
Yet to get seriously competitive since joining this yard in December, including when ninth of 13 in a handicap at Southwell over 1m in April wearing cheekpieces for the first time. Now returns after 94 days off with headgear removed and has questions to answer back down in trip.
Alfa Whiteburd (IRE)
Has done all his winning on all-weather and was second of 10 at Southwell last time on his return from 11 weeks off. Unexposed at 7f and races from lower turf mark here so not without hope from a helpful draw.
Carolus Magnus (IRE)
Has built a fine record at Musselburgh and showed his best form in over 2 years when he won there 18 days ago. Needs to prove as effective away from that track and a high draw won't help on that score.
Imelda (IRE)
Placed all 3 starts, including when excellent third of 11 to 2 subsequent winners in a C&D maiden in May, running her best race despite racing very wide from stall 11. Makes her handicap debut and looks open to further improvement, but once more has been done no favours by the draw.
How Impressive (IRE)
Inconsistent handicapper who is better on all-weather. Has the right style for this track but is hard to fancy on his poor Catterick effort last time.
Berkshire Boom (IRE)
Won over C&D last summer but hasn't kicked on since, looking consistent rather than progressive when third of 7 in a handicap here 28 days ago. Well drawn and in good hands so still merits some respect up against older rivals for the first time.
Trust Sergei
Second at Wolverhampton over 5f on all-weather in May, then won over 6f there 12 days ago. Now steps back up to 7f, a trip he's unproven at, and switches to turf under a penalty in a deeper race so will find this tougher.
Black Rock Beauty (IRE)
On the up since being fitted with cheekpieces, getting off the mark at Redcar in May before running at least as well when third of 15 in a handicap at Doncaster 26 days ago. One of the least exposed and is worth taking seriously.
Montpellier Green (IRE)
Sole win came over this trip in Ireland in 2024 but shown little over markedly longer trips most outings since joining this yard. Plummeted down the weights as a result so needs a close eye in the betting back at 7f after 7 months off for shrewd connections.
Kitaab
Not won since 2024. Took a small step in the right direction dropped to 6f when fourth of 10 at Thirsk 35 days ago, but now back up to 7f and this looks too good a race for him.
Mister Mcgregor (IRE)
Long-standing maiden who ran well when third of 7 in a handicap at Chepstow 13 days ago. Hard to trust given inconsistent record and probably out of depth in this grade.
