Timeform View

SOMERSBY ROOST impressed here on penultimate start and looks worth another chance. Brosna Queen is feared most ahead of handicap debutant Bossy Bird, while Willie Mullins' Surfin USA is likely to be popular in the market.

Timeform Comments

Brosna Queen (IRE)
Fair bumper winner. Off the mark with an improved display in Downpatrick novice last time, travelling smoothly and asserting quickly when asked. Looks weighted to go well again on handicap debut.
Preparations (IRE)
Followed up breakthrough Flat win with success on reappearance/hurdling debut at Limerick in April last year. Too free in Grade 2 sole other start in this sphere. Now switches to handicap hurdle on the back of a hit-and-miss winter on the all-weather.
Arctic Flame (IRE)
Off the mark in maiden hurdle at Down Royal (17f) last summer. Best form has come over this trip, finishing runner-up for the second time in 4 handicap starts at Clonmel in mid-May.
Surfin Usa (FR)
Runner-up on bumper debut at Sligo. Built on that promise at the second attempt when going with plenty of zip to win on hurdling debut at Downpatrick (2¾m). Likely to be popular in the market now making quick switch to handicap for powerful yard.
Early Bird (IRE)
Tramore bumper winner made more impact than previously over hurdles when runner-up at Clonmel (heavy). Failed to improve any further returned to less testing conditions at Killarney since. Returns from short break in first-time tongue straps and will need more to defy her opening mark.
Somersby Roost (IRE)
Got off the mark in taking fashion in a course handicap (19f) in early-May. That form has some substance, and she's clearly better than she showed over a longer trip at Listowel (23.5f) later that month. Has been freshened up and may well resume winning ways back down in distance.
Diamond Tipp (IRE)
Surpassed bumper form at the first time of asking over hurdles when successful at Downpatrick this time last year. Mixed bag in handicaps, though there was some mitigation for her stable debut at Listowel (2m). Jack Kennedy takes over.
Costanuci (IRE)
Without a win since 2023. Out of sorts last year. Only made late headway when finishing mid-field on return from 6-month absence at Punchestown last time.
Glitz And Glamour (IRE)
Made it third time lucky over hurdles at Sligo last August. Didn't shine on sole start in handicap hurdle subsequently. Now reverts to hurdling off a break, having gone the wrong way over fences.
Bossy Bird (IRE)
Showed more than previously when fourth of 18 on qualifying run at Punchestown (2¾m). Tongue strap goes back on, and she's the type to do better now handicapping.
Lakewood Rose (IRE)
Hit the frame all 3 starts in handicaps. Close fourth behind couple of fairly useful types at Wexford and backed that up when third (well positioned) at Punchestown last time.
Evelyn (IRE)
Best effort when fourth in C&D maiden penultimate start. Raced on unfavoured part of track at Limerick since. Isn't totally discounted back in a handicap sporting first-time cheekpieces.
Felicity Smoak (IRE)
Showed some promise in 2m juvenile hurdles. Well held under more testing conditions both handicap starts last winter. Back to form on Flat with fourth in Navan handicap (13f) latest. Longer trip could be within range now reverted to hurdling.
Ellens Pride (IRE)
Point winner looked ready for this step back up in trip when fourth on qualifying run at Sligo (17.7f). Entitled to improve, though opening mark will probably prove beyond her.
Loughrask Jet (IRE)
Again looked too high in the weights/less than straightforward when well held seventh of 18 in Listowel handicap in late-May.
Tudorista (IRE)
Hit frame first 2 hurdle starts last summer. Better than the beaten distance on handicap bow/final start for Gavin Cromwell in late-October. Isn't fully exposed tackling longer trip (bred to suit) on first run for new yard.
Ballinearla Girl (IRE)
Maiden ran creditably in handicaps at Clonmel/Bellewstown in April. Capable fresh and should remain competitive off 1 lb lower.
Liss Eile (IRE)
Belatedly matched the form of her hurdling debut when fourth at Tramore (2m) in May. Probably found race coming too soon at Clonmel 6 days on. Now tackles this sort of trip for the first time in a handicap.
