Timeform View

This may go the way of veteran C&D winner DOCUMENTING, who still showed plenty of spark at Newbury last time and is well treated on his best form. North View travelled sweetly in first-time headgear on his latest start and could be a serious danger back down in trip. Northcliff, Cancan In The Rain and Arantes Nascimento to note in a highly competitive handicap.

Timeform Comments

Winston's Warrior (IRE)
Made it 2 wins from his previous 3 all-weather starts when successful at Southwell in late-April. That form has taken a few knocks and concern that he bled on return to turf at Carlisle the following month.
Port Road (USA)
Seemed unsuited by Epsom sole previous turf start last spring. Has won 3 times on the all-weather since, but he found his run of good form coming to a halt at Kempton in late-May.
Havana Blue
Winless since success in slightly higher grade at Beverley (7.5f) in summer of 2024. Should find this a more suitable test than at Goodwood (1m, heavy) last time and mark is tumbling.
Cancan In The Rain (IRE)
Consistent sort. Followed up successes at Southwell (7f) and Newmarket (1m) with fine fourth over C&D on final start for Denis Quinn. May step forward for his fourth on recent return at Yarmouth (1m). One to consider for yard that has done well with new recruits in recent weeks.
Daring Legend
Hasn't troubled the judge since going close on stable debut/return at Kempton in early-March. He did fare better than in a 6f handicap here when fifth at Yarmouth latest, though was aided by the run of the race.
Enola Grey (IRE)
Likeable mare who is better known for her exploits on the all-weather. Probably needed her return at Carlisle last time. Hard to be confident she can add to sole turf success in a race this competitive.
Documenting
Veteran C&D winner. Latest success came on Boxing Day in 2024 but that's reflected in his mark. Confirmed plenty of ability remains with smooth-travelling second at Newbury last time, and he's well treated based on his form in higher grades last season.
Arantes Nascimento
Versatile sort who is holding his form really well this year. Runner-up 5 times either side of his success at Kempton in April, including when going close at Salisbury (6f, heavy) latest. Looks as good as ever and should be competitive again.
North View
Now 2 lb lower than when fairly useful winner on stable debut at Chelmsford (1m) in January. Faded after travelling strongly in first-time cheekpieces over 1m at Yarmouth last time, and he looks interesting dropping back down in distance with headgear retained.
Red Hat Eagle
Landed fourth success over 1m this time 2 years ago. No surprise that connections persist at 7f having been notably headstrong since returning from 17-month absence (including when fourth at Yarmouth latest). Could be seen to better effect in a big-field handicap under a more experienced jockey.
Be Frank
Capitalised on falling mark in a similar event at Newmarket on reappearance last season. Now only 2 lb above that mark following a creditable return at Chester. Booking of David Egan a plus and cheekpieces back on.
Beauty By My Side (IRE)
Dual all-weather winner. Runner-up in this grade on reappearance last summer. 4-month break will need to spark a revival following an underwhelming winter on the all-weather.
Luansobe
Showed improved form to spring a 40/1 surprise in 7f Wolverhampton novice on reappearance (beating now-useful sort). Played up in the stalls before finishing down the field on handicap debut at York (good to soft) in May. Likely to have benefitted from subsequent gelding operation.
Lunario (IRE)
Positively ridden to win back-to-back handicaps in blinkers at Chester/Sandown this time last year. Seemingly completely out of sorts lately, though does at least benefit from return of more severe headgear (visor).
Sponsor (IRE)
€130,000 Mehmas gelding. Again showed promise when third over 7f at Newbury (race worked out well) on qualifying run. Subsequent couple of runs in 1m handicaps have been underwhelming, but it's too soon to dismiss given his price tag/novice form.
Ararat (IRE)
Winner of back-to-back 6f handicaps at Southwell for Robert Cowell last autumn. Below that form for new yard, but he did turn in his best effort of the season when third (behind Documenting) at Newbury on latest start.
Oceti (IRE)
Ran to a borderline fairly useful level at Newbury (1m) second time up. Tardy start didn't help his cause over sprint trip on handicap bow at Windsor latest. Still feasibly treated on the best of his maiden form but stall 1 isn't ideal.
Northcliff (IRE)
Made winning start for Thomas Faulkner when landing a hat-trick (and second course success) last year. Landed a gamble on final start for yard at Chepstow (7f) in May. Not at his best in couple of runs over 6f for capable new stable, but a bigger performance expected returning to 7f on this track.
