Timeform View

BETTIES BAY had softish ground as a possible excuse at Sandown last time and can show she's still well handicapped for her prolific stable. Almarada Prince was a good third in a similar race here 4 weeks ago and is likely to pop up again soon. Yes I'm Mali, Mister Sox and Fiscal Policy also make the shortlist in a typically wide-open York sprint handicap.

Timeform Comments

Yes I'm Mali
Has made a positive start for yard which gets the very best out of this type. Good second of 10 at Newmarket (6f, good to firm) last Saturday. Enters calculations under Tudhope.
Betties Bay
Yet another to be transformed by the switch to James Owen, winning first 4 starts for the stable. Even better form when second at Doncaster (6f, firm) last month and possibly unsuited by softer ground when fourth at Sandown (5f, good to soft) latest. Given another chance back on a firmer surface.
Glory Hyde (IRE)
Right at the top of her game at present, making it 4 wins in last 5 starts when cosily seeing off 5 rivals at Ripon (6f, good to firm) 24 days ago. This is a lot more competitive but she has to be respected in her current mood.
Juan Les Pins
Won on all-weather at Newcastle (5f) and turf at Thirsk (6f, good to soft) in the spring. Also placed at Newbury and Ascot in April/May but run of good form came to a halt at Thirsk last time.
Almarada Prince (IRE)
Has a career-low mark and latest C&D third of 21 suggests his turn may be near again. On the shortlist.
Havana Rum (IRE)
Dual winner in 2025 and good second at Pontefract (5f) on this season's return. Hasn't built on that since, with latest Epsom third only respectable.
First Folio
C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2024. Failed to build on reappearance when sixth of 8 in handicap at Yarmouth (6f, good to firm) 44 days ago. Has had a breathing operation since.
Ruby Red Gove
Low-mileage Showcasing filly. Bagged a second win on her turf debut in 8-runner handicap at Pontefract (6f) last month. Creditable third of 8 at Doncaster (6f, firm) since.
Alpha Magic
Successful on second handicap start at Hamilton (6f) last season but has threatened only once in his 4 outings since. Falling in the weights but others are more obvious.
Wreck It Ryley (IRE)
Landed a big gamble on second start back at Leicester (6f, good) in April. Creditable third of 12 at Doncaster (6f, good) in May but 2 lesser runs have followed over longer trips. Back sprinting now but others are still preferred.
Sixtygeesbaby (IRE)
Fairly useful 6f scorer for Tom Clover in 2025. Has become a shade expensive to follow after a promising return, failing to beat a rival last twice. A first-time visor (added to tongue tie) needs to help spark a revival.
Bright (IRE)
Bounced back to his best to score at Newcastle in December but has found life harder off higher marks in his 3 outings since. Others are more obvious.
American Bay
Mostly creditable efforts in defeat this season, including second of 9 at Redcar (5f, good) 21 days ago. One of 2 with a shout for Paul Midgley.
Rock Opera
Ended a near 2-year losing run at Pontefract (6f, good) last month. Backed it up when runner-up there 19 days later.
Fiscal Policy (IRE)
Ended long losing run at Pontefract last month. Creditable placed efforts twice since and likely to be in the mix again.
Mister Sox
Twelve runs since last win in 2025. Creditable second of 10 in handicap (9/2) at Thirsk (6f, good to firm) 10 days ago, sticking to task. Can make presence felt.
Kats Bob
Successful 5 times in 2025, including C&D, but has yet to score this season, including well below par last twice.
Educating Rita
Without a win since July 2024. Off 8 months ahead of this first outing for a new yard after leaving Michael Dods. A watching brief is the percentage call.
Good Earth (IRE)
Notched a third victory this year in 6f Haydock handicap in April. Creditable second of 7 in handicap at Newmarket (5f, good to firm, 2/1) 21 days ago. The Michael Herrington stable continues in fine form.
Magic Boy (GER)
Won 7f handicap at Redcar last November and made an encouraging return from 7-month absence when 2¾ lengths second of 10 over 6f at Ripon in June. Too keen when fourth over 7f at Doncaster so the return to sprinting could be a good move.
