Timeform View

A chance is taken that LUCKY IN TAIPAN retains enough ability to make a successful handicap debut from a basement opening mark on the back of a switch to the powerful Ben Pauling yard. Storm The Dug arrives on the back of a pair of good efforts over C&D and is shortlisted alongside Centurion's Sister.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Storm The Dug traded at 10% or less of Betfair SP twice on its last 5 starts: Malangen traded at 10% or less of Betfair SP and 50% or less of Betfair SP on 2 of its last 5 starts.

Timeform Comments

Centurion's Sister (IRE)
Runner-up twice from 3 starts in bumpers. She's been consistent rather than progressive over hurdles, chasing home a next-time out winner on return at Cartmel and again bumping into one destined for higher grades when filling the same position in a Bangor handicap (17f) 2 weeks ago,
Scots Poet
Has won 3 of his last 4 starts after nigh-on 2 years without even one (hardly putting a foot wrong since the blinkers were added), getting up late on to land a 12-runner handicap hurdle at this C&D (good to soft) 35 days ago. Respected after another 5 lb rise.
Follow Charlie (IRE)
Creditable fourth of 10 in handicap here (3m) in April but ran poorly dropped back to 2½m here last time and even shorter trip here is far from certain to suit,
Jolyjump (FR)
Hurdles/chase winner for Gary & Josh Moore at around 2m who ran right up to his best when second at Plumpton (17f) in April 2025. Looked unsuited by soft ground when eighth of 9 in handicap chase at Cartmel on debut for this yard later that summer but best watched now after a year off.
Tigress Lilly
Yet to make a real impact in bumpers or over hurdles, finishing well held in a 6-runner handicap at C&D 10 days ago. Will be of more interest when stepped up in trip.
Storm The Dug (FR)
Having been brought along steadily, he improved again when runner-up on handicap debut over C&D (despite being unconsidered in the betting) in April and ran to a similar enough level when fifth of 12 here last month. That gives him a big shout with tongue strap applied.
Malangen (IRE)
Front-running veteran (successful 4 times here) is without a win in 15 starts. Probably would have won at Hexham in mid-June but for late unseat and was a good second there next time. Probably feeling the effects of a busy spell here last time though and has had only another 10 days off.
Lucky In Taipan (IRE)
Placed on his bumper debut prior to going the wrong way for Fergal O'Brien and made no impact in maiden hurdles last summer for Max Young. Off for 10 months since but now steps into handicap company after a significant stable switch and it'd be no surprise to see him prove a different proposition.
