Timeform View

A few with chances but BIG BEAR HUG did well to score at Kempton recently and escapes a penalty for that apprentices' handicap success so is hard to side against. John Butler's Senor Cortez rates a big threat though after getting back to winning ways at Southwell last week, while both Mister Daydream and Educator can also play a prominent role.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Love Is Golden could be expected to race prominently. Of those in the front half of the betting forecast, Crackergee might be well positioned in a slowly run affair: Of the better-fancied horses, Big Bear Hug is most likely to be ridden furthest from the pace.

Timeform Comments

Senor Cortez (IRE)
Dual winner (including here) when trained by Robert Eddery last August. Landed a gamble for new yard in 7-runner handicap at Southwell (1¾m) 8 days ago, forging clear last 1f. Very much one to consider under a 5 lb penalty.
Expressionless
Resumed winning ways at Leicester (1½m) in April but not been easiest to catch right since, a respectable fifth of 9 in handicap at Newbury (11f) 20 days ago.
Percy Jones
Scored at Wolverhampton last July. Yet to hit top form in 3 runs this season, cheekpieces on for 1st time when sixth of 8 in handicap at Chester 16 days ago.
Crackergee
Capitalised on a reduced mark when gaining a first win at the twelfth attempt in 6-runner handicap at Ffos Las (1½m) last month. Back up 4 lb but not out of things.
Educator
On a losing run but this course winner got back on track with second of 7 in handicap at Windsor 28 days ago, not ideally placed. Well in the mix nudged up 1 lb.
Naasma (IRE)
Course winner but yet to hit top form this season, a well-held third of 5 in turf handicap here (2m) 25 days ago. Down in trip with more needed.
Big Bear Hug
Built on earlier promise to land 7-runner handicap at Kempton (11f) 5 days ago when overcoming a pace bias. Escapes a penalty for that victory so holds leading claims.
Love Is Golden (IRE)
Won twice over hurdles in early 2023 for Gary Moore but has shown nothing after over 3 years off at Goodwood and on turf here last month. Makes polytrack debut.
Mister Daydream (IRE)
Right back on song for new yard with wide-margin success in selling handicap here (1½m) 7 days ago. This is tougher but he must enter calculations under a 5 lb penalty.
Further Measure (USA)
Scored at Kempton (2m) in February and in good nick until only seventh of 8 in handicap there (2m) 33 days ago. Bounce back is required from this course scorer.
