It's fair to say things haven't gone to plan for DANCING WITH DRUMS since switched to turf for new connections but having eased in the weights as a result, Adam Kirby's 4-y-o could well be worth chancing returned to a synthetic surface. On Key continues to frustrate his supporters but he looks sure to be in the shake-up again, with Adelaide Bay and Fistral Beach another couple worth mentioning, too.

Timeform Comments

Iconic Times
Yet to hit his straps for current stable but this return to 7f looks a good move. Cheekpieces on for just a second time in his career and worth a second look dropped into class 6 company for the first time.
Blackjack
Multiple all-weather winner who was also successful on turf earlier in career. Operating below his best this year and showed no immediate benefit from a recent breathing operation at Wetherby (5.5f, good to firm) last month.
Fistral Beach (IRE)
Gained a third C&D win in March. Posted another good effort with third of 12 at Southwell (7f) in April (reportedly bled) and ran one of her lesser races over C&D 6 weeks ago (ran without her right-fore shoe). Type to bounce back.
Midnight's Dream (IRE)
Placed at Newcastle in January on final outing for Roger Varian and has gradually found his feet for new connections, third of 7 at Yarmouth (1m, firm) 12 days ago. Visor reapplied and worth considering back on all-weather.
Em Jay Kay
Won a 6f handicap at Lingfield in January but below form all 3 starts since, beaten by more than a lack of fitness/being caught wide from a double-figure draw after 4 months off here (6f) recently.
Dancing With Drums (IRE)
Registered a third victory on all-weather at Kempton (6f) in May. Recent turf efforts have left plenty to be desired but better showing anticipated back on a synthetic surface (lurks just 1 lb above last winning mark).
Quite Sweet (FR)
Southwell scorer last October who shaped as if amiss when last seen there (1m) in January. Watching brief advised on return.
Sanditon (IRE)
Belatedly off the mark at Chelmsford in February and doubled his tally in ready fashion when dropped into classified company over C&D last month. Good third at Catterick next time but possibly found Musselburgh coming too soon given the heatwave in between since.
On Key
Long-standing maiden who continues to knock firmly on the door, running creditably without ever looking like going past the winner when third of 10 at this course (6f) last week. Remains one to be wary of at short prices.
Adelaide Bay
3-time all-weather winner during his first spell with Jane Chapple-Hyam and has shaped well from a reduced mark on all 3 starts since rejoining the yard, including back on turf at Yarmouth last time. High on the shortlist once again.
Tommy Mcjohn (IRE)
Signed off for Ciaran Murphy with good third at Dundalk (5f) in January. Made an encouraging start for Adrian Keatley with fifth at Ayr in May but well below that level on all-weather the last twice, faring no better under different tactics at Newcastle (6f) recently.
Twitch (NZ)
Dual 7f winner at Chelmsford in 2024 who has drawn a blank since. Ran a typical race quickly returned to all-weather when sixth of 12 at Lingfield (7f) just under 6 weeks ago and others more appealing from a win perspective.
