A return to 1m may well suit TOKYO JOE ideally but this is a much less demanding test than he faced when posting a solid fourth in a big-field York handicap 32 days ago and he could well be the answer. Freddie's Star back down in trip and Mayberry Moon may emerge as the chief threats to Ed Walker's 4-y-o.

Timeform Comments

Follow Your Heart (IRE)
Four-time winner on all-weather last year but finished nearer last than first in pair of turf starts since returning from a break in recent months. Mark has eased a little more ahead of this but others appeal more.
Tokyo Joe
Suited by a sound gallop when getting off the mark in a Lingfield novice in December. Stepped up on reappearance when posting a good fourth at York (7f) 32 days ago and he's a likely player down in grade for all a return to 1m may suit ideally.
Freddie's Star (IRE)
Justified very cramped odds when winning 5-runner Chelmsford novice in November and shaped better than previously this year (equipped with first-time cheekpieces) when fifth of 11 at Newmarket (1m) 24 days ago. Return to this shorter trip in his favour on that evidence.
Mayberry Moon
Dual winner who joined present yard for only 1,000 gns from Michael Dods last autumn and he was far from discredited after 10 months off when fourth in a C&D handicap 2 weeks ago. Hood goes back on now and Rossa Ryan an eye-catching booking.
Counting Cards
Lightly-raced gelding who displayed promise initially for Ed Bethell but lightly raced this year and ended time with that yard on a low-key note. Goes without usual tongue strap now and others more persuasive.
Dandy G Boy (IRE)
Consistent all-weather performer who won at Kempton in October (7f) and ran well to make the frame next 2 starts last year. However, ran poorly after 6 months off when sixth of 8 in handicap at Lingfield in June. Refitting of cheekpieces rates a positive ahead of this.
Spirit Of The Bay (IRE)
Sole success last year came over 1¼m at Chepstow and bright start to present campaign when close fourth at that course (7f) in May. Has had excuses on each of her last 2 starts at 1m but worth noting all wins have come at that trip or further.
Redredrobin
Losing run is mounting up but given a chance by the assessor and she can have her latest run overlooked after racing closer to the pace than ideal when eighth of 10 at Chepstow (7f) 7 weeks ago. Still, others make greater appeal on balance.
Kaleidoscope Eyes (IRE)
Won in the mud over C&D last autumn and showed benefit of her reappearance run when fourth returned to this C&D 2 weeks ago. Finds herself back on last winning mark and a good gallop to aim at will aid her cause here.
