HARSWELL RUBY was only beaten by an improved 3-y-o last time and looks poised for a second C&D success of the year. Barley and Capital Guarantee are both well treated if rediscovering their best, while in-form Military Leader is feared if able to dictate.

Dual course winner. Did well to finish close second at Beverley in April. Looked back in some form at Beverley latest and interesting now dropped in grade under good-value apprentice.
Degale
Free-going sort whose sole success came at Ripon in the summer of 2024. Dropped 3 lb following another below-par effort at Beverley last time, but he doesn't look in the form to capitalise.
Harswell Ruby (IRE)
Only 1 lb higher than when well-backed winner over C&D in April. Finished fourth in better York handicap prior to bouncing back in refitted headgear behind an improver at Pontefract latest. No 3-y-os to contend with this time and has a good opportunity to resume winning ways (due to go up 3 lb).
Military Leader
Completed a double when making all over C&D in May and again ran well to finish clear second in a run-of-the-mill at handicap at Chester latest. Dangerous if allowed an easy lead in his current form.
Cosmos Raj
A 3-time winner in 2025. Ended that year well below par and continued out of sorts this season. Capital Guarantee looks better fancied of yard's runners.
Barley (IRE)
Unlucky not to end long losing run at Hamilton in late-May before again shaping well in Ripon/Carlisle handicaps. Not quite in same form when third at Carlisle earlier this month, but he's weighted to go close if back firing on all cylinders.
