HANSTEEN proved a different proposition when runner-up on his recent handicap debut at Ripon, headed only near the line, and he can build on that effort to go one better. Next best could be Satyress, who got off the mark upped to this trip at Beverley last time, while Resdev Time is another to consider.

Balqaa
Regular slow starter who was a cosy winner of a Wolverhampton classified stakes (9.5f) in March. However, she needs things to drop right given her running style and was never involved in a Ripon handicap (1m) in May. Stays 11f but first try over this far.
Coverbridge
Has only a Newcastle maiden victory back in 2024 to his name but ran better than for a while when third of 8 in handicap at Leicester (1½m) last month. Shaped as if still in good form when fifth of 11 over C&D 10 days ago, meeting trouble home turn.
Muhib
Remains a maiden after twenty-six starts but has been proving consistent at around 1½m this year, soon bouncing back from a lesser effort over 1¾m when third of 11 in handicap over C&D 10 days ago.
Prince Hector (IRE)
Runner-up twice in 1¼m classified stakes at Chelmsford early in the year but his losing run continues to mount up, sixth of 13 in this grade at Newcastle on latest outing.
Satyress
Has shown improved form in 2 handicaps this season, runner-up over 1¼m here on return before going one better in 6-runner event at Beverley (1½m) 24 days ago. Remains unexposed over this distance so she merits consideration.
Yakhabar
Ready winner of a Southwell handicap in March and made the frame 3 of next 4 outings. However, arrives on the back of a lesser effort over this C&D 10 days ago. Cheekpieces now back on replacing blinkers.
Hansteen
Upped to this trip for handicap debut, left previous efforts behind when denied only close home in 8-runner contest at Ripon 11 days ago. Had the run of the race last time, but he can make another bold bid with more still to offer.
Resdev Time
One of her better efforts when third of 6 in handicap at Beverley (1¼m) last month. Upped to this trip, left poorly placed after an awkward start when down the field at Ripon 11 days ago, so she's worth another chance as she drops in grade.
