Timeform View

OBSIDIAN VERSE opened his account making only his second handicap start at Southwell in April and he is taken to bounce back from a lesser effort on turf last time. He gets the vote ahead of handicap debutant Veil of Clouds, while Yachtsman could still have more to offer for his current yard.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Nebbia traded at 10% or less of Betfair SP and 50% or less of Betfair SP on 2 of its last 5 starts: Fifty Nifty traded at 25% or less of Betfair SP twice and 50% or less of Betfair SP twice on 4 of its last 5 starts.

Timeform Comments

Monsieur Kodi (IRE)
Knocking firmly at the door prior to resuming winning ways at Lingfield (7f) in February. Caught wide and failed to see things out after 12-week absence on turf at the same venue (6f, heavy) last month, so he could fare better this time around.
Fifty Nifty (IRE)
Free-going sort who couldn't justify support in a couple of races for Mick Appleby to end last year, before well held in a pair of 7f handicaps for Chelsea Banham this season. Interesting to see if the support arrives again on stable debut now fitted with eyeshields.
Hierarchy (IRE)
Often slowly away and overcame a positional disadvantage when resuming winning ways at Lingfield in February. Struggled for form next few outings but bounced back when 1½ lengths fourth of 7 at Ffos Las 24 days ago. Task is now to build on latest effort.
Veydari (IRE)
Didn't manage to win for current yard last year but made the frame on 3 occasions. Having dropped back down to his winning mark, shaped well on his return when second of 10 at Pontefract in June, though likely to face competition for the lead here from his wide draw.
Akabusi
Capitalised on a drop in grade when scoring at Newmarket in May. Has made the frame 2 of 3 starts since, soon leaving behind a lesser effort returned to class 5 company when fourth of 9 at Windsor 18 days ago.
King Of Chaos (IRE)
Quirky type but notched a first handicap victory over this C&D last month. Had excuses (badly hampered) at Epsom last time, though will need to get back on the up from a 6 lb higher mark than for his June success.
Twilight Madness
C&D winner late last year and added to his tally at Bath in April. However, he wasn't in the same form in his 2 subsequent outings later the same month, well held back here when last seen.
Yachtsman
Off the mark making only fourth start for this yard at Windsor in May, before failing to meet expectations at Catterick just 3 days later. Races off 1 lb lower mark than last time, so he merits consideration given a longer break ahead of this race.
Veil Of Clouds
Improved from debut when runner-up in 6f novice at Southwell last month. Raced too keenly upped to 7f when fifth of 8 at Kempton 15 days ago, so no surprise to her bounce back as she goes handicapping with tongue strap fitted.
Obsidian Verse
Back down to 6f, showed improved form when getting off the mark in handicap at Southwell in April. Failed to repeat that effort back on turf at Leicester last month, but this well-bred type is worth another chance returned to all-weather.
Nebbia
Has run well switched to handicaps in 2 starts this season, beaten only by a handicap debutant in 6-runner contest at Leicester (5f) last time. More needed to gain a first success but return to this longer trip promises to suit.
Far Too Fizzy
Made all for an easy success at Lingfield (6f) in January and has had excuses when finishing down the field 2 of 3 starts since, caught wide throughout at the same course (5f) in March. Capable of making a bold bid following a break (has been gelded).
Red Snapper
Off the mark at Bath on final outing last year and ran well when second on 2 of first 3 outings this season. Ran poorly at Goodwood (5f) last time, though should be suited by stepping back up to 6f as he makes all-weather debut.
