Timeform View

GANGSTA MAN impressed when coming from last to first to get off the mark for Jim Goldie here last time and can make light of a 4 lb rise to thwart the handily-weighted Sir Garfield, who rates a big threat in his bid to go 3-3 this season. Recent Ayr scorer Manila Scouse, along with veteran Strike Red, can also have a say in an intriguing Scottish Stewards' Cup.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Sir Garfield might not get things all its own way near the head of affairs but shouldn’t be held back by that alone: Gangsta Man might not benefit from being ridden as far back as usual for all the gallop is likely to be a reasonable one.

Timeform Comments

Ferrous (IRE)
A 3-time 6f winner in 2025. Yet to score this season but largely running well, sixth of 11 in Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle (6f) 20 days ago. Not out of things back in handicap company.
Commanche Falls
Two-time Stewards' Cup hero (also took this in 2021) but it's now twenty four runs since his last win in 2023. Off since finishing well held in handicap at Sakhir (5f) in February so he needs to hit the ground running on his return.
Gangsta Man (IRE)
Twice a winner (around 7f) in Ireland in 2025. Proving progressive for his current yard and came from last to first to land 8-runner handicap here (5f) 22 days ago. Up 4 lb but merits serious consideration.
Strike Red (IRE)
Excellent record in big handicaps over the years (runner-up in Stewards' Cup at Goodwood in 2025) and returned to winning ways at Leicester in April. Posted another good effort with second of 14 at Newcastle (6f) 20 days ago so must enter calculations.
Saint Lawrence (IRE)
Formerly smart sprinter who showed more encouragement after a breathing operation and stable switch when second at Ascot (6f) in May. Failed to back it up when twelfth of 15 at Epsom (6f) since though. Retried in blinkers now.
Jordan Electrics
Multiple C&D winner who captured this prize in 2024. Posted a good sixth of 28 in Victoria Cup at Ascot in May. His more recent form is less encouraging though, eighth of 17 in handicap at Ayr (6f) 11 days ago. Losing run is mounting up.
Manila Scouse
Gained a deserved first success of 2026 in 17-runner handicap at Ayr (6f) 11 days ago. This C&D winner is not taken lightly under a 4 lb penalty.
Sir Garfield (IRE)
Dual C&D winner in 2025 who has advanced his form again this season, going 2-2 in 7-runner handicap at Epsom (6f) 16 days ago. That form has been franked so he's a big player despite a 3 lb rise.
