CONFUCIUS was unable to reproduce his Coventry form when a close third in the Anglesey Stakes here but that came just 11 days after his run at Royal Ascot so is well worth another chance. His stablemate Carry The Flag is a potential threat back at 6f, while Immortal Guard finished just in front of Confucius in the Anglesey.

Timeform Comments

Carry The Flag (IRE)
Caught only late by subsequent Coventry winner Great Barrier Reef in Marble Hill over C&D. Disappointed in the Norfolk at Royal Ascot but quickly back on track when narrow winner of Naas listed event 2 weeks ago. Return to 6f will suit and first-time headgear could also help sharpen him up.
Celeron
Mohaather colt who knew his job when winning C&D maiden in June. Struggled in Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot 2 weeks later, however.
Confucius (IRE)
1,700,000 gns yearling who was an unlucky second on debut before going one better in decisive fashion at Cork. Progressed again when sixth of 21 in Coventry at Royal Ascot but unable to land odds when ½-length third (head behind Immortal Guard) in C&D Group 3 weeks ago. Worth another chance.
Immortal Guard (IRE)
€100,000 Persian Force colt who landed a gamble in a C&D maiden on debut. Ran at least as well when third (Carry The Flag second) in C&D Group 3 before good second (ahead of Confucius) in Anglesey Stakes here. Should be bang there again.
Switching Sides (IRE)
Kodiac colt. Dam, third at 1½m, half-sister to smart 2-y-o 5f/6f winner (stayed 1m) Besharah. Encouraging second of 8 in traditionally strong 6f Curragh maiden on debut though was made to work hard to go one better at Fairyhouse 5 weeks ago. More needed.
The Scallionator (IRE)
Off the mark at the third attempt in maidens at Listowel but well held in the Coventry after and this is another tough ask.
Tribeca (IRE)
575,000 gns yearling, Blue Point colt. Dam, 1¼m winner, sister to smart 9f/1¼m winner Carla Bianca. Looked a good prospect when coming from off the pace to make a winning debut in maiden at Navan. Struggled in the Norfolk at Royal Ascot (geed up beforehand) but remains with potential.
