PRINCE OF THE SEAS arrives on the back of a couple of useful efforts, and he's taken to get off the mark for David O'Meara. Last year's runner-up Per Contra could be worth another chance, with better-than-ever Salamanca City another to consider in an open-looking handicap.

Timeform Comments

Spioradalta
Likeable, forward-going type. Notched his seventh win in just over a year at this course in May. Below form in similar event at Windsor last time (11.5f), however, he's clearly a better horse at this track (4-time C&D winner).
Star Harbour (IRE)
Veteran who chased home a well-treated one (clear of Per Contra in third) in a better race at Carlisle in late-May. Shaped as if still in good form when 9½ lengths fifth at Curragh subsequently, while also extending a losing run stretching back to 2024.
Haku (IRE)
Useful performer on the all-weather. Better than ever when successful at Southwell in November. Probably in need of a break when down the field on latest start at Kempton over the winter, though it's hard to be confident he can capitalise on 7 lb lower turf mark (0-5 on this surface).
Elsass (IRE)
Returned from a break/gelding operation an improved model. Followed up Southwell success with plenty to spare at Hamilton (11f) in mid-May (form has taken a few knocks). Didn't give his running on return from 7-week break in Old Newton Cup earlier this month, eased as though possibly amiss.
Prince Of The Seas (IRE)
Contested a couple of Derby trials for Ralph Beckett before going on to win 1½m Goodwood handicap last summer. Confirmed he's back to his best for new connections with close second at Hamilton (13f) last week. Bigger field/stronger pace should see him go one better.
Salamanca City (IRE)
Form this season looks solid. Narrowly made it 2 wins from 3 at Goodwood last time, having travelled smoothly into the race. That was a career best on the figures, and she's more than capable of holding her own back up in grade.
Per Contra (IRE)
Runner-up behind subsequent winner in this race 12 months ago. Promising signs when third behind Star Harbour/fourth in solid big-field handicap at York before finding John Smith's Cup too competitive last Saturday. Entitled to do better with sights lowered.
Yafreh
Frankel colt. Brother to smart winner up to 1¼m Al Mubhir. Steadily progressive in maidens. Well positioned when ¾-length second behind subsequent winner on handicap bow at Thirsk (1½m). In better company taking on his elders for first time, though he's relatively unexposed.
