Timeform View

C&D winner ELECTRIC LIGHTNING produced his best effort of the season when runner up at Beverley 2 weeks ago and he looks to hold sound claims if backing up that effort from a 1 lb higher mark. Fellow C&D winner Woodleigh is probably best excused his latest Newcastle run and is feared along with Leicester scorer Palmarian. Clasina and Penny Ghent are others worth a look in a trappy handicap.

Timeform Comments

Palmarian
Steadily eased in the weights without threatening initially for present stable but found things finally clicking when opening his account down in grade in 9-runner handicap at Leicester (1m) 2 weeks ago. Nudged up only 2 lb on the back of that and claims again.
Penny Ghent
Thrived in refitted headgear of late, landing back-to-back handicaps at around 1m prior to posting a good third under a penalty at Beverley (8.5f) 7 weeks ago. Should give another good account in present groove.
Clasina
Belatedly off the mark (first run since leaving Katie Scott) in a 9-runner handicap at Yarmouth (7f) in August. Looked rusty following 10 months off when well held in handicap at Newmarket (6f) in June but that ought to have blown the cobwebs away and return to 7f will suit.
Princess Niyla
Without a win since last spring but has posted some creditable efforts this season, albeit not looking all that well suited by the drop back in trip when fifth of 7 in a C&D handicap 9 days ago. Mark has eased further ahead of this, though, and not one to write off.
Relevant Range (IRE)
Free-going sort who won a pair of all-weather classified races at the beginning of 2026 and posted best turf effort for present yard when just touched off at Musselburgh (1m) in June. Does need to shrug off a lesser effort at Kempton latest, though.
Woodleigh (IRE)
Followed up his Redcar success (1¼m) with something to spare over C&D in June. Never figured in race dominated by those ridden prominently when fifth at Newcastle (1m) 23 days ago but bounce back certainly not ruled out.
Give Me The Night (IRE)
Still a maiden and application of blinkers/marked drop in grade failed to spark an upturn in form when fifth at Yarmouth (1m) 16 days ago. Headgear retained here and rider takes off handy 5 lb but others appeal more on balance.
Ribston Pippin (IRE)
Won over 1m at Southwell in December and all the better for return when second over same C&D in April. However, absent since finishing well held at Yarmouth the following month and he's been absent since.
Electric Lightning
Free-going type (C&D winner) who had eased in the weights and returned to form on third start of present campaign when second of 11 in handicap at Beverley (7.4f) 2 weeks ago. Of interest if able to back that up now.
Oscar's Sister (IRE)
Remains with just the one career victory and she failed to build on the promise of her penultimate fourth at Redcar (7f) having raced freely back at that venue 4 weeks ago. Lines up from career-low mark at least and she's no forlorn hope in an ordinary affair.
First Encounter
Dual winner of classified contests during the winter who arguably shaped best when fourth in similar company at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 11 days ago, making effort earlier than ideal. Will need to pull out a little more back in a handicap.
