Timeform View

AL RIFFA and Illinois set the standard and preference is for the former who landed this last year before going on to win the Irish St Leger. The selection's stablemate Trustyourinstinct heads the pick of the remainder, with Tennessee Stud one to consider, too.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Al Riffa traded at a low of 11.00 and Betfair SP of 10.40 when losing last time, a race in which it raced behind.

Timeform Comments

Al Riffa (FR)
Very smart 6-y-o who won this race last year before landing the Group 1 Irish St Leger by 4 lengths from Amiloc. Respectable efforts on the last 2 starts, latest when 10½ lengths fourth to Scandinavia in Gold Cup at Royal Ascot last month. His yard still in good form and he tops the shortlist.
Dallas Star (FR)
Without a win since last year's reappearance but was a good second to Scandinavia in 1¾m listed race at Navan in April. Failed to repeat that all 3 starts since and has work to do in this grade.
Green Impact (IRE)
Took his form up a notch when landing a 9f Leopardstown listed contest last summer. Once again came up short at the top level when 8¾ lengths fourth behind Almaqam in Tattersalls Gold Cup at this course (10.5f, good to firm, 18/1) in May. Significantly up in trip and easy to look elsewhere.
Happy Pharoah (IRE)
Successful 3 times at Leopardstown in 2025. Gelded before posting a good ½-length second of 6 to Scandinavia in Saval Beg Levmoss Stakes there (1¾m) in May. Not one to discount but needs to prove as effective away from Leopardstown.
Illinois (IRE)
Won the Ormonde at Chester on return last season before finishing second in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot and Goodwood Cup. Capitalised on the significant drop in class when winning Queen Alexandra at Royal Ascot (21.5f) last month. Now needs to back that up returned to this higher grade.
Tennessee Stud (IRE)
Group 2 winner over 15f in France last year. Took a step back in the right direction after 3 months off when 6½ lengths third of 5 to Carmers in listed race at Down Royal over 2m in May. Looks stable's third string on jockey bookings.
Trustyourinstinct (IRE)
Smart gelding who won at Gowran conditions race for the third time last month. Creditable ¾-length second of 7 to Purview in International Stakes at this course (1¼m, good to firm) 3 weeks ago. This is the longest trip he's faced on the Flat and can make his presence felt.
Floresta (IRE)
Useful filly. In first-time cheekpieces, stepped up markedly on reappearance when winning 9-runner Stanerra Stakes at Fairyhouse (1¾m, good) 11 days ago by 1½ lengths from Goodie Two Shoes. Retains the headgear but has more to do back in open company.
