Timeform View

DERRYGARRAN LAD progressed from his debut effort in January when finding only one too good back at Newcastle (1m) the following month. Well clear of the remainder then, he could yet have more to offer now making his turf debut after 5 months off and earns the vote. Indefensible's participation (due to run at Ripon on Saturday) would put a different slant on things, however.

Timeform Comments

Derrygarran Lad (FR)
Persian King gelding who displayed promise when third on debut at Newcastle (7f) in January and he built on that effort when finishing runner up in 1m novice back at that venue a month later, pulling clear of the remainder. Absent since but he's certainly a big player now making turf debut.
Ben Travato (IRE)
€1,000 yearling, Galileo Gold gelding. Half-brother to 1½m-1¾m winner Philos and winner in Spain by Gleneagles. Dam, French 9.5f-11f winner. Wears hood for debut and he's probably best watched.
Feliz Navidad
Mondialiste gelding. Dam unraced. 18/1, made a fairly unpromising start when fifth of 6 in maiden at Beverley (8.5f) 4 weeks ago. In very good hands but he'll need to step up on that to feature.
Indefensible (IRE)
Has lacked consistency to date but clearly capable on his day, posting one of his better efforts when staying on third of 9 in handicap at Catterick (7f, firm) 11 days ago. Leading claims if replicating that here. Engaged 2.40 Ripon Saturday.
Triple P
5,000 gns yearling, Mattmu gelding. Closely related to 5f winner Traditionelle and half-brother to several winners, including 1m-1¼m winner Universal Gleam. Dam 2-y-o 5f winner. Betting can prove a useful guide ahead of debut.
Twilight Baby
Well beaten in a valuable maiden on debut at Musselburgh (7f, soft) in November and stepped up only marginally when eighth of 12 in 12-runner Southwell novice (7f) on return 2 weeks ago. Low-grade handicaps will be more suitable after this.
