SHIMMERING SANDS has thrived following a break and may well make it a hat-trick. The main danger looks to be Mwafaq, who should make a bold bid to extend his own winning sequence.

Timeform Comments

Shimmering Sands
Ended long losing run at Pontefract (1¼m) on reappearance before following up in emphatic fashion over the same C&D last time. Has turned over a new leaf since returning and may defy an 8 lb rise to land the hat-trick.
Mwafaq (IRE)
Progressed again when gamely making it 5 wins from previous 7 starts at Doncaster (1m) last time. His style offers hope that this longer trip will prove within range (also related to couple of 1¼m winners), and he can make a bold bid for a hat-trick.
Enamorus (IRE)
Lightly-raced 3-y-o. Took a step forward when 3 lengths third in first-time cheekpieces in course handicap (8.5f) last time. Shapes as though even longer trip will benefit (mixed messages on pedigree), and has been eased 1 lb by the handicapper.
Kitsune Power (IRE)
Well positioned when capitalising on much-reduced mark in a slowly-run C&D handicap last time. That was his first win for over 2 years, and he's far from certain to follow up back up in grade under 4-lb penalty.
Ziata
Low-mileage 3-y-o. Matched her previous form without fully confirming her stamina for this trip when third in Ffos Las maiden (1¼m, soft). Subsequently sold out of the Ed Walker yard for 9,500 gns. Needs a bit more back in a handicap, even with good-value apprentice taking over.
