Timeform View

The form of MASSIMO BLUE's recent race has worked out well and gets the verdict with a capable claimer in the saddle. Auntie Jo should be thereabouts once again, while Never Dark could outrun his odds.

Timeform Comments

Massimo Blue
Won at Kempton and Southwell last year. 20/1 and in first-time cheekpieces, creditable third of 11 in handicap at former course (6f) 19 days ago, having been drawn wide. That race is working out well and has to be taken seriously.
Federal Envoy (IRE)
All 3 wins over 7f on the all-weather at Southwell. Went backwards from promising stable debut at Yarmouth 19 days ago. First-time cheekpieces go on but he has a bit of work to do.
Style King (IRE)
NON RUNNER.
Landlordtothestars (IRE)
Won over 7f here in November and produced a couple of creditable efforts after. Below form when seventh of 9 in handicap here (7f, 6/1) when last seen in March. Needs the blinkers to work after his break.
Blue Lancero
Third in a Doncaster maiden on debut when trained by Richard Hannon and ran to similar level when mid-field at Newbury next time. Failed to beat a rival on 2 all-weather starts for this yard. Has work to do.
Never Dark
Course winner but it's now 15 runs since last win in 2024. 25/1, better for run when sixth of 7 in handicap at Ayr (5f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Has yet to win at 6f but no surprise if he steps up here with that outing under his belt.
Watermelon Sugar (IRE)
Won twice at Lingfield over the winter. This C&D winner has shown little in 3 subsequent outings and makes little appeal at present.
Master Dandy (IRE)
5f winner here and at Chelmsford in January. Back to form when third over C&D 23 days ago. Market may well guide attempting to back that up.
Crystal Dagger
Went very close to breaking her duck in 7f handicap at Lingfield on New Year's Eve. However, has gone backwards from that effort in 5 starts this year, leaving Ed Walker after the first outing.
Auntie Jo
Successful twice over 5f at Newcastle this season for previous yard. Stepped up on recent stable debut when third at Musselburgh (5f, good to firm) 21 days ago. Should be in the mix back up in trip.
Brave Empire (IRE)
Hasn't won for a long time but followed a good effort when making the frame at Doncaster with a lesser one upped in grade at Pontefract last time. Should find this easier but may again find a few too good.
Candy Warhol (USA)
Front runner whose 3 career wins have come at this track. Four lengths fourth of 11 to Style King in handicap over C&D (12/1) 15 days ago. Each-way claims at best.
White Umbrella
Three-time C&D winner who has tumbled down the weights this year. Recorded a good third over this C&D in March but failed to repeat that since. The blinkers go back on but she's hard to make a confident case for.
