Timeform View

SHAKESPEARE showed plenty to work on when third in a maiden that traditionally throws up well-above average types at the Curragh 4 weeks ago and, appealing as the type to take a significant step forward, he could be the answer. Green Dreamer's debut effort at Killarney was also promising and he rates a likely improver. Darkness Falls and Highest Order are a pair of interesting newcomers to note in the betting for clues.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Shakespeare could be advantaged by a prominent position which looks likely in this field: Of the better-fancied horses, Darkness Falls is most likely to be ridden furthest from the pace.

Timeform Comments

Activity (IRE)
Foaled May 2. €120,000 yearling, Gleneagles colt. Dam, 1m winner, half-sister to smart French maiden (stayed 10.5f) Turf Laurel, runner-up in Prix des Réservoirs. Stable yet to strike with their 2-y-o debutants this season but worth a precautionary market check nevertheless.
Darkness Falls (IRE)
Foaled January 19. Camelot colt. Half-brother to 2-y-o 6f winner The Flying Seagull. Dam, 5f winner (stayed 6f), half-sister to 7f/1m winner Shevchenko and 1¾m-2m winner Tigris River (both useful). Makes obvious appeal on paper and betting can guide with top yard also saddling Shakespeare.
Green Dreamer (IRE)
Churchill colt who is related to several winners and, despite proving easy to back, showed plenty to work on when fifth of 6 in maiden at Killarney (1m) 10 days ago, finishing with running left having been denied a run inside final 1f. Looks sure to improve.
Highest Order
Foaled April 4. Dark Angel colt. Dam, 7f winner, half-sister to very smart winner up to 1m Expert Eye. Another who makes definite paper appeal and betting can unearth some clues.
Maleo Matteo (IRE)
Foaled March 11. Dark Angel colt. Half-brother to minor winner abroad by Munnings. Dam, 1m winner, half-sister to very smart winner up to 1½m Dominant. Yard 1-4 with 2-y-o debutants at the time of writing.
Shakespeare
Lots to like on paper and he shaped with plenty of encouragement first time up when third in a historically strong maiden at the Curragh (7f) 4 weeks ago, running on without being given a hard time. Appeals as the type to build on that considerably and he's strongly considered here.
The Long Haul (IRE)
Foaled March 29. Inns of Court gelding. Dam 1m-9.5f winner. Rates a likely outsider debuting in a warm-looking race.
