Timeform View

Easy to be positive about each of the quintet but DUKE OF BURGUNDY progressed from a promising debut effort when staying on well to reel in a subsequent winner at Kempton 24 days ago and may well have been let in lightly from an opening mark of 76 now entering nurseries. Waasil represents the stable who took this 12 months ago and may emerge as the chief threat ahead of Flying Pirate.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

In a race that lacks confirmed pace-forcers, Victory Gold could get the run of things.

Timeform Comments

Victory Gold (IRE)
Space Blues colt who was strong in the betting and with the hood left off, improved to get off the mark in an 8-runner novice at Lingfield (7f) 17 days ago. Expected to remain competitive now attentions switch to nurseries.
Flying Pirate (IRE)
Overcame obvious inexperience when making a winning debut at Salisbury (6f, heavy) in June. Ran to a similar level despite playing up badly beforehand when third under a penalty over same C&D since and very much the type to have benefited from subsequent gelding operation. Makes handicap debut.
Waasil
Ardad colt who showed promise when fourth on debut at Hamilton (6f) in May and he duly built on that when opening his account in 7-runner Beverley novice (7.4f) in June, asserting final 100 yds. In top hands and he's the type to go on improving for a while yet now switched to a nursery.
Metamouse (IRE)
Dubawi Legend colt who built on his Chepstow debut fourth when landing a 9-runner novice at Chester (6f, soft) in June. Further progress when fourth at Salisbury next time (Flying Pirate placed third) and this increase in trip looks in his favour on nursery bow. Market should guide.
Duke Of Burgundy
Son of Belardo who finished a promising third on debut at Leicester and he duly built on that when reeling in a next-time-out scorer at Kempton (7f) 24 days ago, looking well served by the strong pace. Opening mark may well underestimate him and very much of interest with prospect of more to come.
